I was just pondering this on my way home from work (driving).

The point of indicators is to INDICATE that you want to do something, right ?
Let people know you want to change lanes, get off a roundabout at a certain exit, pull into the kerb etc..

It just seems to me that recently, people are actually indicating that THEY ARE doing something, not that they want to.
"I'm changing lanes RIGHT NOW but its ok as I put my indicators on at the exact moment I'm doing it regardless of whether you were going to let me in or not"

Am I in the minority here of being someone who likes to stick to the rules of the road and drives in a plesant and relaxed way because quite frankly, its no skin off my nose if I get home at 4:30 instead of 4:25 :D

Do you indicate because YOU WANT to do something or YOU ARE already doing it ?? ;)

I find this EXTREMELY irritating, and it happens a lot. Whats the bloody point of indicating whilst your doing something, we all bloody know what you're upto now!! I usually go off into a mini rant when some fool infront slows to an almost dead stop, turns right and then indicates ******* ******!!!

the other day i had a mini argument with a driver who turned into a rd, i gestured with my hand to say "how was i supposed to know you was going to turn " to which he put his window down and asked whats the problem, so i asked how was i supposed to know that you was going to turn, and that i could have gone, to which he replied "not my problem" and then told me to go **** myself and drove off.

HHmmmm.

Does anyone other then me indicate left when pulling back in to the slow lane or is it just me? My dad is always telling me I dont need to bother with the signal!

Just the other day I was sitting in the inside lane in slow moving traffic due to a lorry, the outside lane was moving slightly quicker & as I wasnt taking the next exit,

So, I indicate just to show that I wish to be in the outside lane knowing I may have to wait for a gap yet this crazed lunatic along side me starts blasting his Horn waving his hands about making it out I just done a grave misjustice in displaying I wish to change lanes.

2secs later he changes lanes himself without indacating & takes the exit:mad:

Really wish I'd caught him:(:D

I was told whilst doing my DAS (bike test) that you dont have to but have always done so in the car.

Doesn't beat the encounter I had, which was basically "I'm indicating, therefore even though you are overtaking me, I have right of way and will pull out, and you will slow down and let me out." - Said bloke didn't understand why I carried on overtaking him, he almost tried to ram me off the road. :)

I had previously indicated giving plenty of time, and was overtaking him and a few other people.

I always indicate before I do something, unless the road is pretty much empty, then it can be as I'm doing it.

Surprised at you Fox, I thought you had sexual fetishes with your 'well made' storks :D

He does, they turn him on when he rubs them...but he gets too distracted by that when he tries to use them that he doesn't bother to use them, so he doesn't have an accident.

I dont think BMW's come with these, I cant remember ever seeing one signal on the motorway on my way to work.

Thats not true I'm almost certain I seen one indacting left on the side of the road just in front of a traffic cop today.
