Everyone on here seems to hate oblivion, i for one think its the greatest game of 2006, but some quotes from the last few weeks ive seen.

"Oblivion Was Dire"

"Awful Game, So overated"

"A letdown for the TES series"

Seriously though, the game is huge, loads to do, fun quests, fantastic graphics, and best of all the modding community is huge, loads more life into the game from mods.

So why does everyone on here hate it so much?

Yet i havent played Morrowind, most people say its better.

I have no idea how anyone could hate it. Simply supurb, and deffinately one of the best games of last year.

I think quite a few PC gamers were a tad bitter that the game was also on the 360. They like their RPG's hardcore and for it to be on a console made it have a slightly more console feel to it, and that the developer had 'sold out' and as a result focused less on the PC version than they would have done otherwise.

Probably due to all the bugs and glitches that were in the game, as well things that only an idiot would implement in a game ie physic guards, scaling system, and awful leveling system. Oh and then there's the very badly optimised graphics which have a habit of crippling framerates on even the best pcs.

Thing is, it really ought to be brilliant - it's got great graphics, atmosphere, decent quests, and lots of depth.

And yet, I've gotten bored with it very quickly. It's partially the way everything levels with you - there's nothing to aim for, since everything will always be evenly matched with you. There's no sense of 'wow, I'm nearly level 20, I'll finally be able to visit that hard dungeon'.

No matter how hard you try, you'll only start to get decent equipment when you hit a certain level, and then it all just starts to drop off bandits

Basically, there's no challenge. The whole world it centered around you, and panders to you.

Also, a lot of it is a bit generic. You're constantly expecting to discover something special, and it never quite delivers. Same dungeons, different layout.

Mods do a lot to fix these things, but it's still basically good but flawed.

great game, playing through it atm. :)

animation on the smoke is superb imo. kvatch after i had a barney with golems, flame atronachs and draemora dudes

I did enjoy it quite a bit, got about 40 hours out of it, which is quite some time really for me. I just didn't like how there was nowhere too challenging for me to go. There was no reason for me to avoid a certain part of the game because I would get obliterated the moment I stepped anywhere near there.

I only finished the first three or so story quests then after that I just explored everywhere. Not sure if the story unlocked much at all, doubt it would have done. Did it?

I also didn't like that all of the dungeons were the same, just with a different layout. Though I did have fun in some of them raiding them.

Did enjoy sneaking into peoples houses and stealing stuff, had great fun being a pickpocket too :)

I get urges to reinstall this from time to time, the graphics were nice, especially with some of the mods out there. May install it again once all of my coursework is done!

I tried to like it, I forced myself to play it, but it just bored me senseless, especially the combat.

If it had more of a Dark Messiah combat system, then it might have held my attention

i personally found it boring. It felt like it was just a game for eye candy and not game play. I'm finding this a lot with newer games tbh
