Why does nearly everyone hate oblivion?

Another vote for 'Awesome'. The graphics blew me away - I loved the gameplay - but then I'm a bit of an explorer so spent a lot of time wondering the world taking it all in. Will be going back to it soon to collect my 'winner' armour and play through the add ons! (I actually found Dark Messiah too basic for my tastes, prefered Gothic - but I really am in a minority of none!)

It seems a lot of people finding it boring but I think that's just because most of them aren't into that sort of game. I would find something like Gran Turismo very boring, but that's because I'm not into racing games.

I think morrowind was better in some respects. I still think Oblivion's great though, but Morrowind seemed to have more content. Maybe it just appeared that way because of the lack of fast travel though.

Amazing game, never actually got bored of it.

I find a game like CS boring due to the repetativeness round after round doing the same thing on a small map. But everyone has their own oppinion.

Boring. For about 20 hours it's the best thing ever, then I realised it wasn't actually that fun. It's great in bits, but it can get tedious. Maybe you have to be in the mood. I haven't played it in a while, so it would probably be a lot of fun now.

Morrowind was special though. Maybe because it was the first time we'd seen anything so brilliant. It set an unfair benchmark I think.

i think it is a bit boring now, but i did rack up over 120 hours on it.
guess i'd expect the shine to have worn off by then.

it's definately one i'll keep hold of and replay in a few years to see how it compares to the newer stuff by then.

its enjoyable to an extent.

my peeves are the

1. the lvling system.
2. the enchants suck in meelee.
3. the UI sux, i need a screen that i can drag armour, jewelry, weapons etc i want to use onto so i dont accidentally sell them all the time.

not enough action for me neither.

all i want from an RPG is Dungeon Siege 2 combat + UI and Titan Quest skill system in an Oblivion quest + terrain rich game, is that too much to ask?!

Is there any mods that fix the leveling up?

I *REALLY* hate it when games level up with you.

Obscuros Oblivion Overhaul.

I didn't bother playing without it. It was a refreshing change to meet both very strong enemies at the beginning that had me running for my life and then blow mere cannon fodder away later on as you get more powerful.

OOO or O3. Don't leave home without it. :D

I quite like the game. 115 hours so far but I'm taking a little break to play other stuff.

Its great for the first 20-30 hours. And at which point you realise the levelling system is crap and your character is totally flawed. So you start again, and at this point you realise its going to take you another 20-30 hours to get back to the same point as last time, but you decide after 5 hours that this new character isn't any good either. So you start again. Only this time the only thing you are doing is trying to level you character. And after about 45 minutes you realise that casting destruction spells on yourself, and standing still with your shield raised or making potion after potion just so you can level properly makes for a very boring game indeed.

That, and the fact you can join all the guilds without them batting an eyelid. Do you really think the fighters guild would take on someone who is known to be in the dark brotherhood.

Oh, and the fact that even with Oblivion gates outside a town, people are still are complaining about mud crabs! I mean, you lose all immersion at that point. You want to grab them, and scream in their face, "look, forget the bloody mud crabs, there is great hordes of dreadra ready to burst through the gates any moment!!!".

Oh, and the rewards for actually rising to the top of a guild are pathetic. Ok, better stop before I rant myself out!

I think everyone who has a life goes through that. The people who play Oblivion past 45 hours are probably stood in a field casting spells on themselves as we speak. Still levelling away - hour after hour. Sad.

Massively great for the first few hours, then gets boring, simple as.

It's kind of the comedown that makes people forget the high.

oh, also, whats the point of all the facial customizing when once its done you never see it again. Also, as far as i know it has no impact in the game what so ever..?! correct me if im wrong..

I love oblivion, just started playing it again.
The quests are brilliant, i much prefer the side quests and guilds as opposed to the main quest. The mod community is great too, the reason im playing through again.
deffo one of my fav games of all time and i can only run at med/low gfx :D
