Why is Ryzen 5000 so dang fast at eSports?

I'd personally only consider Intel as the budget option or for those with niche workloads, and even then it would depend on the price of the 3600 by comparison to the 11400F.

The 11400 might be a little quicker, but AMD has more upgrade options down the line, I find the ability to pop a second hand 5800X-5950X into a (compatible) AM4 board in a few years if necessary appealing, while Intel doesn't offer anything appealing in that regard.

The 11400 and the 10400 before it are solid budget processors that I've recommended to others, but they're not where my money would go.
 
There is - prebuilt's at reasonable value available with decent GPUs in them. :D

Albeit that is not an intrinsic value of Intel, just an availability thing with the current market, but a 10700k/3080 for example is right up there performance wise with a 5800X/3080, trading blows title to title.

The lack of PCI-E 4.0 etc is a shame, but not a major issue right now.
 
Essentially the 10400f/11400f are an 8700k, which came out at the end of 2017, albeit actual volume stock not available until 2018 Q1 unless you wanted to pay scalped prices.

Back then if you wanted the best you had to pay for it, now I'm pretty sure the 5600x/5800x etc. are all indeed faster than the 8700K, so the same thing should apply, if your want the best you have to pay for it. Otherwise no one would have recommended an 8700K over an R5 2600 at ~£150, yet they did. Are they good value, that is up to the buyer, but the 8700k was in the same boat at the time yet still was highly recommend.

Don't sweat it, "but they are cheap" is hardly the endorsement Intel have in mind, I like that Intel have these practically give away CPU's, its a measure of where Intel stand right now, if they didn't have them they wouldn't sell anything. Intel hate it, there are no favours being done for Intel in this and its not hurting AMD's sales, they are still selling more 5800X than Intel sell anything, including the 11400. Keep your eye on Rainforest US best seller list for CPU's.

I would still like AMD to have something like a 45 Watt 5600 none X in the $200 category, but AMD wouldn't sell any more CPU's doing that because they already sell everything they can make, at least we do have such a chip, its the 11400. let it be.

yes a 5800x is an amazing chip yes you have more money than some people but you go

on an on and on and on about it

just play some games without the fps counter running and stop caring about 10fps faster than something else
