why most people choose Messi over C.Ronaldo?

On any day i would take Ronaldo over Messi. I wonder how the statistics would look if they switched teams With Messi at Real and Ronaldo at Barcelona. Messi could end up with half his goals and assists.

Some times i think Messi takes credit instead of Barcelona as a team while Ronaldo takes criticism instead of Real as a team

Harder decision is Messi or Iniesta? Ronaldo doesn't enter the conversation at the moment.

How is this a hard decision, Messi SIGNIFICANTLY out assists Iniesta, Iniesta is a crap shot, the most selfish player in the team, and very over rated.

Iniesta is better than Fabregas/Xavi/Pedro going through people on the ball but he incredibly frequently keeps it and goes into a dead end looking for the shot himself rather than pass.

But for a few very flukey games his assist rate wouldn't be great this year either, this is the FIRST season he's broken 10 assists in the league, and he's never broken 10 goals in the league.

Really soak that in, this is a guy who plays the most advanced in central midfield, or as a wide striker for most of his career, and yet this is the first season he's broken 10 assists in the league... 4-8 goals and 4-8 assists a year in the league is the worst return of any half decent attacking player at Barca who plays that much...

Anyway as Bagsjoni said, the situation would be very different if Ronaldo/Messi switched clubs, not necessarily score or assist less but, Barca and Real play VERY different football, Real play direct, Barca play slow build up, this is naturally conducive to Barca passing more and Messi having more possession, higher pass completion, making more passes. Teams in La Liga(and europe) play differently against Real than against Barca, not to mention that Real excluding Ronaldo and Casillas have worse players in every other position. Using stats like pass completion and number of types of passes proves nothing except that the teams they play with play a different brand of football. Passing more isn't "better" its JUST passing more. You can tell, without a doubt that Messi at Real would have worse pass completion, would shoot more(rather than waste the pass) and would make less passes in a game.

Also anyone who says Ronaldo isn't a team player, doesn't watch Ronaldo play, ever. He constantly creates chances for his team, he's within the top 2-3 assist makers in the season basically every year, and Ozil(crap shot, slow, seemingly not that fit and unwilling to shoot much) out assists him, thats pretty natural that the top scorer isn't the top assister.

Messi would have a harder time, but not necessarily score less if he was playing with the insanely inconsistent players that are Benzema, Di Maria, Ozil, Kaka, Higuain. Fabregas/Xavi/Villa/Ibra/Eto'o are all miles ahead of those guys in terms of quality.

I would go for Ronaldo over Messi. Both amazing players but after watching that Ronaldo tested to the limits swayed me. He can pretty much do everything.

Ronaldo didn't do himself any PR favours when he was diving in the premier league, or when he was winking about assisting in getting Wayne Rooney sent off against Portugal.

It seems he has stopped being an ass, but his reputation still hasn't been forgotten. (perhaps forgiven...)

For me ronaldo has more raw power and energy but messi has more finesse about his game. The way he can drift through players and the chips, drinks and largely contrasts to ronaldo who tends to blast his shots (unerringly accurately). Messi is a better footballer but ronaldo is out of this world too

Find it funny that people say Messi team-mates are the ones making him play better rather than it is Messi unselfishness that makes his team-mates better, he instigates plenty and brings them in - he makes the style of play happen. He also does the same hard work the rest of them do in chasing and winning the ball back when they lose it - that's been the key to Barcas success on top of their possession.

Ability-wise there probably isn't much between the two guys but Barcelona are the more successful team at the moment and it's down to attitude, work-rate as well as ability. I don't believe guys like Ozil, Di Maria can't pass as well as Xavi and Iniesta but do they work as hard for each other and is Ronaldo guilty of the same thing because everyone at Real does it?

Think u hit the nail on the head. Barca are a well drilled team everyone works for each other and Messi does his magic, to get the best out of Messi he has to have intelligent players around him, all those flicks and one-two passes most teams wouldn't be able to keep up with Messi if he was playing for them thats how good he is.

Ronaldo is more of an individual player kind of a one man team, doesn't work for his team but makes up for it with his goals.

I really like how because Ronaldo has played in 'THE BEST LEAGUE EVER IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL' it makes him better. Seems people are swallowing the sky money shots.

I don't think he is a better footballer, but I'd still rather him than Messi when my team isn't at Barca's level.
