why no games like crysis

why all the crysis bashing? lol, very fun action packed game, runs very stable, with awesome graphics i didnt find it buggy at all!.

When it was released, it run like a dog (way before first "optimized" configs started surfacing) and had a lot of bugs - bodies of dead enemies disappearing everywhere, trucks with shot tyres floating above ground, object left mid air after burned chasis and body on them were snatched by unknown forces:

triggers that wouldn't trigger, etc etc. If you search the forums, you can still find laments and cries of people who reached the alien (or worse yet - snow) level and just couldn't pass it at 2 fps on their brand spanking new C2D and 3780 they sold their kidneys for...

Regardless of what crysis ran like when it came out, it firmly sits now in my top 10 games, yes I have only recently aquired a system that can run it at full settings but I don't "need" to play games as soon as they're released and this was really worth the wait.

Far Cry was one of my favorite games of all time and no matter what anyone says, Crysis is basically Far Cry 2, the actual Far Cry 2 game is just cashing in on the name of the first.

Crysis is entertaining, challenging, fun, looks beautiful and I could play it over and over as I did Far Cry.

I agree with this to be honest. I bought it through steam recently for a tenner (was on offer I think) and it was well worth it. If I had had a PC that could run it when it came out I would have bought it then. The AI is reasonably good and the game is fun. It didn't hold my attention for massively long, but then most single player games don't.

Generally though the game looks good and plays well. It's one of those games that I will probably keep going back to.

In all fairness the PC is always going to be the PREMIUM platform for games such as Crysis.

Now there is no reason why the game wouldnt work in consoles apart from the engine at its highest level of course. The money is in the console market but the PC market is nowhere near dead. Digital distribution has changed all this.

Crysis 2 for example will look so much better on a high end pc it will be scary. It will run a lot smoother, for the best experience you wont need to look any further. Similar could be said about Rage when thats released also. I even have to look at games like Resident Evil 5 which after running the benchmark my god was I taken aback in the difference of quality.

Releasing a PC exclusive with a AAA title and a AAA engine is a risk these days, it's all about scalability and allowing them to work on the consoles, companies have to make their money and the consoles almost guarentee they will when they make a good game. We will always get the best version as long as it is given the same care and attention, I only worry about shoddy ports but games released on all platforms on the same date usually work out ok.

While FPS graphics have remained stable, things like RTS games have come on in leaps and bounds over the last few years, Empire total war is very pretty.

Pc gaming is far from dead or dying, its taken a few nasty flesh woundfs, but anyone whos dealt with wild beasts knows thats when they're the most dangerous.

It thought it was excellent. Preferred it before the aliens got involved though.

I'd say RTS was one of the most stagnant genres actually. Don't think Empires is better than Company Of Heroes or World In Conflict.
