Why no pc version of call of duty 3?

more games made be made for consol...but...

more quality games are made for PC

most consol games are all just copies of each other, look in the PS2 section of of a computer game shop and spot how many "action adventure third person shooters" there are, which all have the same lame ass feel to them and require no skill to play and arent even remotely fun

and i also completely agree with DJammyRasta...if someone thinks they can beat a mouse n keyboard user with a consol control i would love to see them try, your head would be off your shoulders before you had even awkardly wiggled your joy stick half way up my shins, let alone got to my neck without shooting every single wall behind me with all your guns first

I can't believe some of the crap being spouted in this thread. It's hilarious.

The whole PC vs Console thing has beed done to death a mllion times, but here's what I have to say on the subject. They both have their strengths, certain games just work better on PC, and some things are better on the console. I have a 360 and a recently built good spec PC, and I play them both pretty much equally.

I love FPS's, driving sims, RTS etc on the PC, but there is nothing quite like kicking back on the sofa, firing up the 360, popping Gears Of War into the drive and seeing stunning graphics through 50" of HD goodness, and hearing bullets ricohet round the room through the 5.1 AV setup.

Talking of graphics, untill you see Gears Of War on a decent HD set you wont appreciate just how gob-shatteringly amazing it looks. And it runs beautifully smoothly too. It just shows what the 360 is capable of in the right hands, and there is nothing on the PC that comes close at the moment (although Crysis will change that ;) )

As for controls, I always shyed away from playing shooters on console, as I just couldn't get on with using sticks instead of mouse and k/b. However, because GoW is such an awesome game I stuck with it, and it suddenly clicked, I can now use the Console controller almost as intuitively as mouse/keyb. It just takes a bit of time, but honestly people once it 'clicks' the controller is fine for shooters.

I was a little dissapointed CoD 3 wasn't coming to PC, but now I'm over my 'FPS on console' phobia I'm definately going to pick it up.

Oh and MuSsEr, I think you'll find that the CoD 3 TV-ads actually use in game graphics from the 360 version.

What part of that do you find ironic, because I certainly wasn't spouting crap :)

If you mean the done to death part, well yes, I'll agree there is a certain amount of irony there ;)

The only ads I've seen on any channel have been in game footage, it says at the bottom screen 'actual XBOX 360 gameplay footage'.

It might click and you might be quite good at the game, i am a demon at goldeneye and not bad at time splitters ... but there is no way you can be as good as a person with a mouse.

Consoles these days do seem to be trying to become cheap pc's for the n00b masses instead of what they were originally intended to be and that was fun.

Why i have had no urge whatsoever to buy a 360, or a ps3, when i need to i will buy a new pc that will be better than both of them

I'm not saying anything different. Yes, the keyb/mouse will allways be the best, but that's not to say it's crap with a gamepad.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Consoles are still about fun. Yes, they are becomming more of an 'entertainment hub' rather that just games machine, but I don't see how you can say they are trying to become cheap PCs

I love my 360, but it can't everything the PC can, and it doesn't try.

Better in what way? Yes, it might have more ultimate power, but like I said there is nothing quite like kicking back on the sofa, cracking open a beer and playing a bit of GoW in 50" of HD goodness. That's where consoles strengths lie.

On the flip side I love to game on my PC too, just with different types of games. Let's be honest though, it hasn't exactly been a vintage year for PC gaming, it's been pretty stale.

mm i thought 360 was directx 10 ie. thats why it's called 360 == full circle of the direct x series ?

might be wrong tho.

cheers.

Probably right on that one but there has still been a couple of stonking games, COH is the last game i bought and ive lost hours of my life in that.
Ive got a feeling you have just lite the blue touch paper though :D

What is there exactly thats good for the PC at the moment? Nothing much. All I hear is 'wait for crysis, wait for crysis etc etc.', which incidently is meant to be about 8 hours long.

I'm not saying the PC isn't great, it is, it just I feel its backing itself into a corner because of the power route a lot of manufacturers are taking. I remember when I bought my first PC proper, the games out at the time were half life, Unreal tournament, quake 3. Really, really great games. They still are. The thing is that computer I bought back in 99' was a basic spec celeron with onboard graphics, and it could run all of the games above no problems. But now if you buy a basic spec PC now you'd be lucky to to run any new games on low settings. PC gaming is becoming a niche market now the 360 and PS3 are producing great games that the masses want.

BF 2142 , Medieval Total War 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Company of Heroes, MMoRPG, Pr0n(ooh), Dark messiah OMM,Fm07, Flight Sim X , GTR2 , Defcon, C:SS DoD: S ... i could go on... but its pointless

we could 'discuss' the pro's cons and merrits of both PC & consoles forever but we dont want our forum getting closed like our 'console' friends have, do we ? ...exactly, no, thx

Spie closed the console forum because some people were ungrateful, it wasnt discussion related was it?

The original post of this thread was about a pc game (call of duty) that was originally ported to the consoles, i assume sold very well, and has now been fully moved over to the consoles, and although i haven't played cod3 if 2 is anything to go by im afraid the once awesome call of duty name has been tarnished as a result...take games such as the rainbow6 series or deus ex... both very intense very cerebral pc games, that when converted into console games became nothing more than mindless shooters cashing in on the originals fame. CoD2 was very similar into this in that it lost a lot of what made the first great.

as for 50" of HD goodness thats just even more confusing, how can a console which most of its gamers will state was bought due to the overpriced and overcompicated nature of upgraded a pc need a tv costing more than your most hardcore of gaming rigs?

I'm with you on this one - why is not possible to not like both. Gears of War is incredible concerning graphics and gameplay and as of now there is nothing on the PC that touches it graphically. When there is, hey great, I can play it on the PC. It is all about having the best of both worlds and ignoring the rubbish that comes out on both systems.

Due to Gears and COD3 I have also persevered with the gamepad controller and I now actually enjoy gaming with it. Sure, it’s not as accurate as a mouse but the challenge and skill required in mastering it is satisfying. A month ago I struggled to hit anything and now head shots are becoming more frequent. The mouse and keyboard is still the most accurate control method but is no good from the sofa or bed where I now prefer to play games.
