Why not remake old games?

I quite like all 3 AVP games but for different reasons. I know for a fact people said AVP2 was crap compared to the first one at release by the multiplayer saved it in the end. Highly doubt this will happen with the new one though as the developers can't really be bothered with it which is a shame. (still no proper dedicated servers)
 
Oh and the only old game I'd like to see have a proper 3D engine is desert/jungle/urban strike but with the same "side scroll" style gameplay. Would be epic
 
Orignal Dino Crisis for the playstation re made would be great. That game was scary as. I imagine it would be more so if it looked immense too!

Altho maybe it was only scary cus i was like 10 at the time...?
 
Would love to see remakes of Xenon, Hunt for the Red October, Moonstone, BattleTech - The Crescent Hawks Inception, Phantasie III - The Wrath of Nikademus, Bards Tale series, AD&D games such as Heroes of the Lance, Hillsfar, Pools of Radiance, Curse of Azure Bonds etc etc.
 
BF2 game and maps exactly as BF2 is but with destructible environments of BC2;)

I would like remakes of lots of games with current gen graphics, just like they did with Settlers 2!

Baldurs Gate series
Heretic / Hexen
Sim City
AOE 1+2 (I hated AOE3)
Railroad Tycoon 2

Nothing else I can think of.

I want a new railroad sim with shiny DX11 tesselated choo choo trains :(
 
I hope they never make a FF7 remake, its a legendary game, no matter what they do it will always fail.

Thats the reason i have a psp, have a tonne of my ps1 collection across multiple memory cards.
 
If you could have a sequel which improved on the originals, would you rather have that or a re-make?

Frankly, there's just as much chance of a re-make being messed up as a sequel being messed up, and most devs simply wouldn't be interested in doing re-makes from a creativity perspective.
 
I knew that would be controversial , don't get me wrong I'm gutted I feel like that, I love final fantasy and hate the fact that I just cant get into what is arguably the best game in the series. I just wish I had been into final fantasy when it was launched, I had a Playstation back then and I'm sure I would have found it amazing.
I didn't realise it was on the PSP though, I might give it another shot, it might look OK on a small screen. The time I tried to play it it was the PC version, is the PSP/PS version of it significantly better looking?

FF7 is comically over-rated. Don't worry about it.
 
I think they could make a good game out of paperboy for the sega mega drive. I would love that in DX11 :)

Also, can't believe no-one has mentioned the X Wing/Tie Fighter games, surely the series most deserving of a remake?
