Why still no ATI 9.1

I know both of those things. The issue is not:
Running 1080p

The issue is running 1080p in DX10. It works in DX9, and DX10 works in other resolutions.
4870 x2 black bar problem w/dx10 & 1920x1080 (help please)

As was said earlier in this thread, most problems are user/hardware related, rather than driver related. Both rigs in my sig run a 42inch Plasma at 1080P with no problem at all, and have done from day 1 running Vista 64 and DX10.

The driver posts were ignorance and idiocy on my part. These posts I assure you were intended to ask questions. I then posted some user reports to do with the issue. I was hoping someone else would know if it has been fixed.

I assure you it is not my intention to troll.

Allegedly ATi users are subject to irregular driver updates, cannot install drivers, frequent crashes, display driver stopped responding, microstuttering, low minimum fps, inconsistent framerates in games, poor performance etc etc

Sadly, I haven't noticed any of these.

Same here, its been plain sailing all the way sofar with my 4870x2.

as I said there is no issue, I run stalker in 1900x1200 and with DX10.1. those people have other issues, probably there display doesnt support 1080p if they are running 1080i or they are using wrong connectors, etc...

FYI 1080p is a lower resolution than 1200p

There IS a problem with ATI and 1080p in some games, but that's not to say it's the ATI drivers at fault. Crysis, Stalker, Far Cry 2 all work fine for me in 1080p in DX10, Company of Heroes : Opposing Fronts however comes out as 1080i.

Could be that it's the coding of that game that doesn't work well with ATI drivers, but whatever the root cause is, the problem is there.

wow end of the month now and still no 9.1, guess they really are having a lot of issues.

hope they release 9.1 for windows 7 as well.

and I'm not having any issue running DX10 at 1920x1080.

Gears of War was another I had the 1080i issue with in DX10, though not too bothered about it and not tried it in ages as it bored me to tears.

i have both CoH and the expansion and 0 issues

only game i have an issue with is Far Cry 2, it crashes after a while. but that is not an ati problem it is when ram usage exceeds 50% i crash to desktop. hopefully Ubi will address that sooner than later

Can you play CoH at 1080p DX10 with no issues? I know you said earlier that you can play everything fine at 1900x1200 but this interlacing issue specifically only happens in 1080p, all other resolutions are fine for me (including 2560x1600 that i've tried on an apple cinema display, albeit at an unplayable framerate :/).

Well I would like them to get it right and spend more time on it then *%$£ it up.

Would side port be available for two 4870 or just the X2.

*hands bucket* :o :p

The side port is only available for the X2. it's intergrated in to the card itself to enable the two GPUs to talk directly to eachother instead of having to go through the PCI-E chip.

What problems have you had? I haven't had any since 8.10

Well 8.12 doesnt seem to let me run CCC. And it kept messing up my desktop colours along with not letting me set my desktop res with the correct refresh rate. 8.11 works ok though :/

No clue about performance though as I gave up benchmarking driver updates.

One of the reasons I bought the x2 was the sideport thing that was put all around the specs page, we still dont have it, feels abit like we where duped by this, this was meant to be the reason it was meant to be faster than 2x4870s. which it would be with GPU's talking straight to each other not via the PCI-E bus interconnect.

Tbh sideport will make very little difference even if enabled, ATi have also verified this, its there for ATi to experiment with, and 'may' give marginal bandwidth increases if the time comes to enable it, but nothing to shout about.

To my knowledge ATi never 'bigged' it up as such and it certainly isnt a selling point for the card, atleast for me anyway, if you bought a x2 because of this be prepared to be dissapointed.
