Why still no ATI 9.1

I have 2 4870X2's in crossfire X on V8.12. Pretty awesome performance wise with no issues at all when i run at 1920X1200 on my Dell 24". Yet i find i have issues with the right side of the screen wobbling on my 40" series 7 samsung at 1080p. The strange thing is it runs fine at 1080p on the desktop, its only when i run the likes of Farcry2 and Fallout3 but Crysis is fine at 1080p in 64bit DX10. Odd really but it doesn't bother me one bit as i use the Dell most of the time

One good thing with all this, with them being released so late this month and February being the shortest month, we shouldn't have to wait too long between the 9.1s and the 9.2s :D

To my knowledge tho, there is no set rule that ATi have said they will release drivers every month withut fail ??

Maybe they just wont this time ?! Might be 2 months, who knows.

A bi-monthly release with the occasional hot fix would probably be better anyway. It would give their engineers more time to work on improvements rather than a punishing once a month release schedule.

One of their guys was asked about this in an interview I once read and the answer given was that they where committed to 12 sets of drivers a year but not necessarily to those 12 being one a month.

Mefinks they are enabling the CrossFire Sideport on the 4870X2's in response to the Nvidia card releases. Giving us more performance for free! Weeeee! :D I wish... But you never know. ;)

Even if they enable it - you won't see any performance difference...

From what I hear you might not see any new ATI drivers until end of Feb.

That's what they say (ATi, that is), but then they'll also tell you they're never going to release a card ever again and that there's no such thing as price drops.

There is very little in current multi-GPU rendering techniques with the X2 that could make use of the sideport to boost performance - if ATI was to implement something like hydra it would possibly be another matter but theres nothing to indicate thats going to happen.
