Why still so expensive?!!

I just thought to my self that I might buy a PS3 before my girlfriend and I move out which then I will be on a VERY strict budget... But nope, still edging on £300!!!

It is ridiculous! Was expecting to pay below £200 at least with a couple of games!

If anyone is selling one, you know whos looking lol.

Because for the money they are a cracking bit of kit. Games console, brilliant 3D blu ray player and sort of media sharing/playing thing for less than £300. Bargain.
 
I agree I got mine as a good deal on the mm for a 120GB slim but there is no way I would pay full price for it. Can get a bluray player for £60 quid these days and a playon HD for £75
 
Suppose it depends on what you call cheap i personally think PS3 is priced perfectly for what you get and when or if my phat one dies ill pay the money for a slim.
 
Thing is, my 360 plays 720p avi's (x264 ect ect) just fine through windows. I would probably buy the HP bluray set, but other than that, it's purely to play the exclusives and increase me epeen lol.

a couple of supermarkets were selling the 120gb slim for £199 recently. I'd still just go for a 320gb bundle.
 
How much cheaper have they got in 4 years?

Stupid really lol. If I have backed out of buying a PS3 for this reason, then how many others and bought a Xbox 360 bundle at half the price?

My bro in law got one for xmas, and we linked it up to my 42" 1080p tv but I must say I was very disappointed with the graphics. I was expecting 360 killing graphics, no jaggies etc but it looked identical to the 360.

Perhaps my expectations were too high. I also don't use bluray, but I still find myself wanting one. :D It is purely the price putting me off :(
 
Well as a comparison, a brand new 360 with decent sized hard drive is £199. Add a bluray player into that and the lack of online subscriptions and the price isn't a surprise at all.

What games did you play? If you're playing multiplats I'd expect them to look nearly identical. :p
 
Don't paticularly want a bluray like I said, it's the gaming console part that I was hoping to buy.

Cheers for all the input guys, I will keep an eye out for a cheap on floating about, but I'm not shelling £300 smackeroo's for 2 games and a bluray player lol.

Well believe it or not, PS3 games are Bluray, so there's no choice in the matter. :p

Yea, most multiplats are identical, oddly with the 360 climbing over the PS3, and vice versa in others.

But that I'm not worried about, the exclusives make or break a console :D
