Why still so expensive?!!

Personally think they're pretty good value tbh, had mine for 3 years now, and would think nothing of replacing it with a new one if it died. Can easily be had for just over £200.

One of the smaller supermarkets had 80GB fats for £150 today so ive been told not sure if it exists in the wild though. PS3 160Gb have been around the £200 mark in many supermarkets for months now, not sure if offer is still going though.

Not sure where you're looking for them to be £300; I work at a Supermarket and at most, they're £285 for a 320GB with Move and another game. The 160GB was £200 in November.

Average price now is about £240-250 with a game, not altogether unreasonable.

We tried GT5 and then MOH.

MOH was identical as expected, but GT5 seemed to have lots of very bad jaggies everywhere! :(

Didn't get to try Uncharted 2 though :(

Anti-aliasing is something that both consoles (particuarly the PS3) can struggle with due to available resources. It is getting better as devs look for their own solutions though.

I'm not sure if you've much interest in the more techie side of this, but if you are this is a pretty good read. :)

Still not got one, was hoping to get one in the sales with a few games for £200 but nothing, can get a 120 gig for £230 and that is an old model, 320gig you are looking at £270 with GT5, no ta, great if you dont have a 360 but aint paying that for the PS3 exclusives

Well as a comparison, a brand new 360 with decent sized hard drive is £199. Add a bluray player into that and the lack of online subscriptions and the price isn't a surprise at all.

But but I have 200 dvds and zero blu rays, you cant really use that analogy

butthurt

Uncharted 2 is the best thing I have ever laid eyes on, on a console. (well, the best thing ever, since I havn't seen a good gaming PC in person ).

Not that clued up on the technical side of things, but if its AA that causes jaggies, which are usually particularly noticeable on foliage like in bad company 2, then its really good in Uncharted 2. Even right up close the leaves of grass/plants are smooth and silky.

Thats why you start a blu-ray collection? Nobody had them before they came out..got to start somewhere.

How much cheaper have they got in 4 years?

Stupid really lol. If I have backed out of buying a PS3 for this reason, then how many others and bought a Xbox 360 bundle at half the price?

ags

I think my 40GB phat on release day was £425 - so its come down considerably.....as well as getting regular updates and better online

Dont really know how anyone can complain given the variety of packages out there now

So what you're saying is you want a mountain of games and Blu-Rays to be chucked in for free?

so nearly 1/2 price if my memory serves me correctly from release day - and with better hardware (Hidef audio decoding as well as hdd size, and a few other bits and pieces) - less power hungry and smaller in size

Cant say fairer than that imo

Although I think it's a lovely piece of kit. I do still think they should be more the £250 mark by now.

Just spotted a post above saying they can be had for £240, so I'm happy with the price actually :p

Not to forget all the things they have taken away ;)

PS3 is still too expensive for what it offers IMO

What have they taken away?

Just Other OS that I can think of.

And I can't see how a console with so many entertainment functions can't be worth just a bit more than that of its closest competitor.

PS2 support.

Obviously some people forget that a great deal more has been added though.
