why such a big price difference 7950-->7970 ?

The whole price of the 7900 series is stupid.

The sales are like a smelly stagnant pond

Wait and they will drop in pricer and AMD will have egg on their faces.

Why don't you moan that Nvidia don't drop the price of their OLD kit to encourage competition? Oh, wait

Or you'll be running naked across these forums with a banana in your ass

Hahaha. How long has Easy got for this drop to happen as depreciation is inevitable?. I'm sure I saw March. Easy will be clenching with every mention of his banana post.

He said he'll perform for us if the HD 7950 isn't sub £300 at OcUK by the end of February.

What is it about then?

His hatred of AMD.

Any reason has gone out of the window it seems.

He says it's pricing. Yet where was his "campaign 'o' crap" at the Nvidia pricing that has caused the AMD pricing?

I'll tell you - it's in his sig. A 570 owner.

Any argument needs a for and against. Sadly it seems that the 79xx series release comes with no argument. They're faster than any cards before them, they're new technology and they have reviewed incredibly well.

So that's your performance argument gone. Then we move to pricing, and all they have done is match Nvidia £ for £. Yet they are over priced.

So when you have the brain power to read all arguments from both sides you begin to realise that his arguments are based on nothing. Therefore, you can work out that they're not arguments at all they're just spite filled hate campaigns.

As I mentioned before, no one who has not bought one of these cards has any argument about them being too expensive. Something is only too expensive if you buy it. Then, and only then, can you raise a valid argument. IE, something along the lines of -

Performance is not what I was hoping for.

It's too hot and loud for the money.

And so on and so forth. If something is too expensive and you didn't buy it it's usually because you want it yet can't afford it.

Price to performance the 79xx cards are all over the Nvidia ones, winning hands down.

Yet some seem incapable of being able to understand that. You know what? Lee Evans said it best when talking about football.

I love it when a player makes a blatant foul in front of 50,000 fans. Then turns around, sticks his fingers in the air and says "**** OFF. YOU'RE ALL WRONG"

If he wishes to put down the 79xx cards then fair play to him. However, he's arguing against the entire world it seems.

He doesn't hate AMD
He is going OTT though :p
The price thing is a problem and why I feel AMD has dropped the ball with this release, I'm looking forward to Kepler killing my 7950, but I also fear that due to AMD's over charging, Nvidia will also overcharge for their 6XX.
Only AMD fanboys can condone the price.

You do realise Easy had an unlocked 6950 (iirc) before the 570? He only went for a 570 because he wanted a change.

Personally I'd like to see what Nvidia brings out, let the pricing settle and then make a decision. I couln't care less about nvidia/amd loyalty, just as long as it does the job and hits the right price point relative to the current market prices.

Really? then how come that he's even dragged up Bulldozer?

What does a 8 cored CPU, note CPU that isn't supported properly yet (hence why it performs so terribly) have to do with a graphics card?

I'll tell you. It's called - clutching at straws.

You know, I wouldn't even mind if he had any reasonable points. Being the wise sort of person I am I would likely agree with him on valid points. Kinda like - when my card does Zerocore it gives me mess on the screen when I wake it.

You know? real true to life things.

It just seems to me that all he is interested in is smearing the 79xx in any way he can. And there's a reason for that, and it certainly isn't because they are bad OR because they are too expensive.

People had no problems accepting the 5xx price structure. No problems at all. Yet, it seems to me that because it's AMD that they're not allowed to charge a price as high as Nvidia as people always expect them to be cheaper because they are in some way inferior.

Tell me. Am I wrong?

So you tell me then, why does he have his panties in a bunch, to the point that he is prepared to embarrass himself by telling lies?

The 7 series are barely any faster than the 5xx series according to him, and they're desperately over priced because they are faster than Nvidia cards at the same prices.

It's called, incase you were unaware, an oxymoron.

The 5XX came out cheaper than the 4XX and before the 6XXX with an improvement in every way, how the hell can people be annoyed about that?
This isn't the same.
Sure, Nvidia charged a fair whack for them, that's because they were the best in that generation.

AMD are the first in this generation, with the best GPU as of right now, fair enough, but it's not going to be the best in this generation, so why does it have a price tag like it is?
I don't know why he brought up Bulldozer, but since Dirk was fired/left, the companies been fail from my view, starting with bulldozer and then the 7XXX pricing.

Also, Easy doesn't hate AMD as he bought a 6950 and has helped thousands of people unlock them, because they offered absolutely brilliant value.
Also, the 7950 at stock isn't all that faster than the GTX580 at all, it's a 200-250 quid card (Depending on the cooler) priced at 340-400, that's overpriced as hell.

L-LOOOOL.

The 5 series came out because the 4 series were truly and utterly GASH.

Thing is, Nvidia didn't even wait. They came along and in the space of three months slapped their loyal followers in the face.

They released cards that were faster, cooler, better. Basically the cards they should have released in the first place.Yet, they were seen as heroes.

LMAO.

All they did was do what they should have done initially. They should also have offered those who paid out the backside for their 4xx microwave ovens some sort of rebate.

But no. They were seen as awesome itself because they managed to do what they should have bloody done six months before.

Haha, I still remember the chats about Fermi. "Sod ATI, I'm waiting for Fermi, it's going to batter ATI's 5 series".

Not only were they wrong, but then they went and bought Fermi cards and THEN got slapped in the face about three months later.

L-LOOOOOOL.

I love amnesia me.

Still, as the saying goes - Treat em mean keep em keen. Eh?

Nice fanboy spin you put on that.
I don't even like Nvidia, but I despise fanboys with their company biased spin.
AMD's 69XX weren't that great, they were rather hot/loud and power hungry in comparison to their 58XX, were they gash too?
Also, March to November isn't 3 months.
