Why the price difference?

Just bought a Samsung F1 750gb HDD, which I regretted since the f3 1tb is the same price.
Does the F3 lack something that the F1 has, since the F3 has higher capacity for the same
price. Is the F3 louder or slower than the F1?

I suppose I could, is there a noticeable difference between the two? If it's only minor I may as well keep the F1 and save myself some hassle. And is there a difference speed-wise between the F3 500gb and F3 1tb? The 500gb is enough storage for me !

Performance wise the F3 is definitely faster, but for storage purposes performance doesn't really matter.

The F1 is the previous generation and is only more expensive because people want matched models for RAID arrays, and whilst that market exists retailers don't need to sell the drives at a loss just to clear out their old stock.

The F1 750GB was more expensive to manufacture becasue it used three 250GB platters as opposed to the two 500GB platters in the F3 1TB. I'd expect the F1 to be louder due to the extra platter.

Whether you send it back depends on if the extra hassle and postage costs is worth a bit extra speed, silence, and 250GB.
