Why we play Eve-Online. Great New York Times article all about it.

It can be a bit frustrating to get into at first but the tutorial is well worth it as is joining a starter corp (like the OcUK one if it's still going) for friendly advice. I liked EVE a lot but I didn't have the time I felt you needed to put into it to be any good.

The main thing I'm waiting for in the game is avatars to walk around the stations in, even if it is just a simple way of social interaction. I don't know how long it'll be until that comes out though.

Ambulation (the ability to walk around stations etc) is due out next year afaik, not sure exactly when. If you look around you can find some concept art and a few vids about it.

Your also right, your first few days in Eve are pretty dull and it can be a very confusing game at times but if you stick with it you will be rewarded. I actually quit the tutorial and the trial when i first tried it and thought what a piece of **** it was, but hey i gave it another chance and i've been playing it for 2 years now :p

I would be tempted to resub but i never got into a Corp and thus felt like I was missing out on a lot :(

Edit: My accounts gone too :( Gives me a "Incorrect username or password" but lets me get a new password sent out to my email address if i say i've forgot it. However that doesn't work either :( So my emails still in there but the accounts dead.

Edit2: Ooh giving it a minute and it now works. So if you think your accounts gone, try resetting your password :)

Any corps looking for a member? I could be tempted to resub.

I joined the OcUK corp when I first started and within a few days was joining in with the mining operations. Some might consider it boring at first but there was good banter between corp members at the time so the hours flew by. Can't remember if my ore was worthwhile but it was nice to see a bit of interaction going on.

I'm thinking of re-subbing with the new graphics update and more interested in a miner/trader than combat. That's what I liked about EVE is that you can do anything you want to rather than be tied down to a specific set of abilities that class-based MMORPGs give you. Maybe that's why so many are unsure of the game as they aren't guided into it as much as some games?

Me and my friends been playing now for about 4 Months, were curently trying out all of different exploration sites. We managed to get into a good, but small corp in a small alliance, with our own 0.0 station. were taking to eve really well and were always dual logging accounts, it improves productivity loads.

Been playing for a day now on the trial and I must say it's a really cool game, like X3 but online, although it will take me aaaaages to get the few million I need for a destroyer:P.

the only problem with eve is because its so complex you need to make sure you have a copy of excel or download atleast 3 essential tools not released by ccp.

Good thing about the game is that money attracts money, more you have better you can do it and faster. because you buy better equipment lol i will make 3mill easily on one lvl3 mission that takes 10min? including savlaging all there parts in a modified destroyer with 7 tractor beams and expanded cargo, which saves loads of time but you need to afford it first.

Interesting article. Good to see one of the better MMORPGS out there getting the press / publicity it deserves :)

That may well be but when the developers actually collude with cheating in the game its not something i find appealing!! Its kinda taking the politics of the game too far. I dont mind legit cheating, scamming, conning etc within the game but people who work for the proprietors using their staff positions to benefit their own corporations.....well dodgy.
