Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

I've pretty much moved fully onto Safari now apart from my gaming laptop which I might as well just keep with Firefox because I don't browse much on it.

Once I got used to the keyboard shortcuts and not having vertical tabs it has worked out pretty well. Fast and easy to use.

Will Ladybird work on Windows? We don't have anyone actively working on Windows support, and there are considerable changes required to make it work well outside a Unix-like environment. We would like to do Windows eventually, but it's not a priority at the moment.

Back to Firefox for most then, I wonder if it will get forked.

I know the GUI is not important on a new project but the early preview builds on youtube look like something from the 1990s.

One thing I don't like about the latest version(s) - I often mute a tab when clicking on it rather than swapping to it :(

userChrome.css to the rescue? Are you talking about how it now shows the speaker icon to the left of the site icon in the tab whereas before it would replace the site icon?

Because i got triggered by that change so i changed it back with...
Code:
.tab-content .tab-icon-stack:is([soundplaying]) {
    display: none !important;
}

Kagi, the company behind a paid, private search engine of the same name, has announced it’s bringing its Webkit-based Orion web browser to Linux.

In a post on BlueSky, Kagi said: “We’re thrilled to announce that development of the Orion Browser for Linux has officially started!”.

Orion is currently only available on macOS and iOS but was built to be better than Apple’s own Safari, and best Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and other browsers in many areas.

Orion is a zero-telemetry browser; has built-in ad and tracking blocking; and reportedly offers lower memory usage, faster page speeds, and greater battery efficiency on Apple devices than other browsers. It also supports both Chrome and Firefox extensions.

I've never heard of the company or the browser.

*edit*

The more i look at the company the more i dislike it as they run a pay to search model.

Genuine question...what's your actual objection to a pay to search model? Is it purely because there are free alternatives? I'm not suggesting that isn't good enough of a reason of course, I'm just curious :)

I pay for Kagi & support Orion and I find it well worth the cost but I get that not everybody would :)

Example:

After a brief search and reading negative comments about them, I lost interest.

I know all companies receive negativity, but as it seemed to revolve around their spamming as a media campaign and seemingly promoting privacy while their practices with AI have been questioned, I thought I wouldn't waste any more time on it.

I'm happy to be wrong, it was only a quick search.

As am I so thanks for the link, I shall have a read :) I've been very happy with their search results compared to the alternatives; certainly for my tech related searches it has returned far more relevant and specific information than the alternatives but I like to think I'm not blinkered :)

It's a sorry state of affairs really when it feels like everything you want to use boils down to having to opt for the 'least worst'...is this the ongoing march of enpoopification?

For years I've been preaching the excellence of Firefox but until it has usable tab groups (like Chrome and Vivaldi), I can't recommend it for professional productivity
