The first few minutes of MMO gameplay are never exciting, MMOs (in my opinion) stand or fall on the depth and quality of their group content, and that video tells us nothing about that.
Couldnt give two figs about group play personally, for me its the mid-level PvP. What makes a good MMO is being able to cater to as wide an audience as possible in a meaningful manner. I mostly solo, jump into a PUG for some content, then spend most of the time PvP. A good clan is essential though.
Deliberately staying away from the hype on this one, want to pick it up fresh and see for myself.
PVP in WoW is pretty good, in terms of arena and BGs.
The only PvP I've ever found really engaging is open world small group and solo PvP, but there's so very little of that around these days tragically.
You see I'll just never understand people like you, you can get infinitely better and more immersive Solo play in a game like Skyrim or Witcher 2, infinitely better small scale PvP in Dota, Counter Strike e.t.c. and MMO small scale PvP is usually exceptionally weak. I fail to get my head around how you find enjoyment in their mediocre gameplay just because they offer the two together.
MMOs are meant to be multiplayer games where you interact and cooperate with your fellow players.![]()
haha good grief that sounds like torture! I could think of nothing likely to make me switch off quicker than trying to collect 40 wood to make the rear wall of the hall. Maybe you're the strange one!Thats not to say a clan isnt fun, as background noise.
Que? Where did I suggest I liked that in the slightest? I said I enjoyed engaging and challenging group content?
I dont think you can compare MMOs to SP games, especially in terms of PvP. Witcher 2 and Skyrim bored me silly, something about the predictablity of it all, but I loved Tarren Mill before BGs and getting hopped and seeking revenge for a couple of hours took the bore out of levelling.
I said I enjoy open world small group and solo PvP...
Mind you it wasnt for everyone, thats why carebear servers exist. As for CSS, yeah, enjoy it, and DoD and coop L4D2, RO etc. but theyre not MMOs.
Well no, those are all first person shooters, my point is that if you are the MMO type who spends 99% of his time in game on his own, then why would you play an MMO when a single player RPG offers you so much more?
Additionally I asked why the current breed of MMO PvPer who never leaves these disgusting battlegrounds which are a plague on the genre doesn't simply go and play Dota or another MOBA, where near enough every game in the genre offers better arena style combat than any MMO.
The secret is to talk to as many types of player as possible - I have no idea where wildstar is going having avoided all the hype but im hoping for a deep open-world pvp option.
Well I'll ruin it for you now then, zero (yes, that's ZERO) world PvP at launch, just battlegrounds. (yawn)

Doesn't it have PVP servers where all contested zones are effectively open world PVP?

Agree, you need a reason to be there, which will create its own mass battles, bit like Ilum in sw.tor till they nerfed it.But just turning PvP on doesn't make for an exciting PvP set up, it takes things like things to fight over and reasons to fight over them.

Erm no as far as I'm led to believe it will still only be faction v faction, which is not proper open world PvP
