Wildstar New MMO (NCSoft and Carbine Studios)

Hate to say it folks, WoW was popular because it was easy.

It has, well it had depth but for the most part, any kid could pick it up and venture through a large land!

I got hooked to L2, those days in Cruma tower, 40+ open pvp battles in tiny square rooms. Nothing will ever beat those memories of me and my mates in Cruma :)

Devs rev up at Rezzed

I posted this at WsC thought I would drop it here as well

I hopped aboard the star cruiser last weekend and took a trip to Nexus to check out the wildlife and the 'mysteries and wonders' to be found there! [Translation: I went to Rezzed at the NEC]

Wildstar had one of the top billings at Rezzed with opportunity to play the game, chat to devs, other potential players (checking out the guild competition) and get the latest on what's being planned ahead of launch.

The good news is - it's real fun to play. There were plenty of visitors who queued up to play several times (me included!) and we got to smash up mobs, climb giant beanstalks (no giants at the top unfortunately) and generally cause mayhem.

It's backed by a team of real game enthusiasts. It feels like they are listening to players for a change - although I'm still a bit worried that they're not doing enough to make the game as social as it could be. They were a bit cagey over certain points e.g. Guild housing - I'm hoping it was because they didn't want to let out any secrets rather than that they're not doing stuff we expect.

If you like standing still when you fight (yes, I’m talking to you Bobs!) then you’re going to be in trouble – this game is all about being agile during battle and avoiding the enemy ‘telegraphs’ that indicate where the main attacks are going to hit. This suits me as I’m always on the move during fights. It did seem to take a long time to bring down mobs, but that may be just the test game version. If it’s standard play then I worry I’ll get bored easily. I would want to see short but tough fights rather than long drawn out affairs that aren’t that difficult.

The open space for exploration works really well – no loading screens between zones and not too many mobs stopping your travel.

Lots of added perks – extra bonus on quests and stuff, plus picking up additional quests easily without having to visit NPCs.

Like Rift one class can pretty swap out to do everything – or at least that is how it seemed. I would much rather see a healer stay a healer.. but that’s just me.

While I was talking to one of the Devs I got the distinct impression that we’re not going to see release by November – again he may have been trying to keep things vague... They really do seem to have great things planned, I for one can’t wait!

If I kill you when I'm out hunting/collecting then you may not pickup the materials/items I need, you might not also kill mobs I need for a quest.

Thats reason enough for me for open world PvP

Then again I might just be in the mood to go out and attack random people?

I'm no griefer.

Well I'm hopeful that a balance is met where we see Classic WoW hardness as I still feel that WoW got easier as it aged. I raided in every expac bar this current one and thats how it felt to me.

It felt that way because it did, considerably so in a vast number of ways. There are vanilla WoW servers out there, but they're not very popular because sadly people today simply prefer the convenience.

News Races reveal at SDDC

Heading out to California for San Diego Comic Con? As long as you're out there, would you like a nice dose of WildStar entertainment? The team at Carbine Studios is hosting a panel on Friday discussing how story and narrative are developed in the game, featuring lead narrative designer Chad Moore, content director Mike Donatelli, creative director Matt Mocarski, and design producer Stephen Frost. Anyone attending the convention will want to be at the panel if you've got even the vaguest interest in the game.

But what if you're in San Diego and aren't attending the con? You can still get some special face time with WildStar at the fan gathering on Friday in the Hotel Palomar. More to the point, this gathering promises to allow players a look at two new races -- in all likelihood the last two playable races that have been teased for some time. So Friday should be a good time for fans of the game in San Diego, and anyone else watching from afar.

To make someone cry/rage is the only reason I PK people... It's why I've done it for nearly 16 years :) Joined a nice guild about a week ago with 3 friends... Yea' the whole server think they are scum now ;)

I like to mix it up. I LOVE PVP, but don't make it my main goal to annoy low levels all the time. But I will actively search out similar levels and stalk them and when they least suspect it... POUNCE!

It's one thing I LOVED about being a rogue in WoW... Stealth was just so much fun! The amount of times I would see someone coming and I would go into stealth and they clocked onto it. They would just look for an alternative route and slowly back away.

But when they think you gave up... Nope, stun lock and backstab with mutilate. Deadly back in it's day and would **** people off so much they would ask me to stop after making a new char just to ask me to stop lol.

Chau look very interesting, some of the screenies with them look, well interesting. Mordesh, not so much.

Loved the trailer.

Just need the last 2 classes now :)
