Will Smith hits Chris Rock on Oscars stage

May not be the same thing but considering I could be out of prison in less time for something as bad as that is insane. How about less severe like losing my driving license, banned for many years and still get it back before Will could even return to the oscars for a slap is ridiculous.

The severity of the punishment is over the top.
Not the same thing. Have to consider the profession he's in, and the punishment is being issued by an establishment of his profession. It's not just the slap, it's the verbal abuse that he offered up in front of a worldwide audience that included children, something he was fully aware of but did it anyway.

I once fell asleep on an airplane and woke up to discover that not only did I have a very visible stiffy but there was also a fresh cup of coffee sitting in my little cup holder, a beverage that wasn't there when I fell asleep.

I can assure you that I didn't go around slapping the cabin crew.

How do you know anyone had even noticed your stiffy while you were asleep? Is a cup of coffee really a sign that someone noticed it? In reality, you couldn't prove your narrative one way or another as it's all a figment of your imagination.

I would have thought they had searches/scans at the entrance to these 'comedy' venues (colliseums?) for blades or guns - even if they haven't had foreign terrorism incidents,
private venues can override state gun carry laws I assume.

we don't know attackers motivation yet - but like Trump and his incitement, comediens need to be aware of risks - has Chapelle heard of Charlie Hebdo.

Seems like a decent apology and assessment of his actions, nice to see. Not sure he acknowledged the impact on the general public and impact on perceptions of violence etc enough, but it was much better than most 'apology' Videos out there.

Those public figures who supported what he did would be feeling a bit stupid at this point if they had any self awareness :p

It is easy to say sorry and he did come across as genuine (and rehearsed). But he hasn't actually said why he did it, an explanation leading up to the event, his state of mind at the time etc.

Not that i'm bothered :)

no better/worse than Boris's apologies ..
Did chris rock actually apologise for the naff humour - nvld promoting a lack of empathy, wth gun use over their that kind of exchange in private could be deadly.
