We are not psychic, therefore have no idea how the game will really run on that spec. We can only presume, and do you want to pay £700 on the weight of a guess?

Wait till it's out then see what's available, like a sensible person would do. G92 is out soon after anyway and that's rumoured to be 2x more powerful than an 8800GTX.

defo go for another 2Gz of Ram...some of the current games just about eat up all the the memory in vista with 2G...and none of them are as advanced as crysis! Apart from that...nearly the same as my rig...so I hope so!

Also...as mentioned above...it might be worth spending another £20 or so on the PSU and getting the 620W one!

He's not playing at a very high res and he hasn't said he's using Vista 64bit so 4Gb Ram sounds like a complete waste

I'd be surprised if it runs smoothly on that system at MAX settings.

But, yet again I'm forced to question the obsession people have with the Video menu on games. All they seem to care about it making sure all the sliders are over to the right, they don't seem to actually be bothered about what the game looks like. In all likelihood Crysis on 'medium' settings will look better than many games on 'max' settings.

ok no need for sarcasm

its a lot of money to spend :)

its one of those answers we cant tell you, because we'd have to kill you.

ok not really, but the truth is nobody knows. ask us about a game thats already out and yeah, we'll give you a good idea. but ask us about a game that hasnt been released yet, and you'll either get nothing at all, or a little sarcasm in there.

if you want to know how good your noexistant pc would be in a non existant game (in that it isnt released yet) then wait for it to be released and see what peoepl say:)

NOTHING will run Crysis maxed: Crytek have gone on record saying the game is designed to make a computer built 3 years from now sweat its cogs trying to run it maxed! The game is mainly a tech demo for their new graphics engine, and that graphics engine has been built with future technologies in mind as well.
If that's true though, surely all the videos we have seen released by Crytek that have Crysis running at max settings are the result of time travel :)

That hardware should be sufficient to run it pretty well I would imagine. I do however think you will have some difficulty in getting far into the game without also investing in a mouse and keyboard.

It is possible to run Crysis on max now. However, they will be releasing an update that will improve the visuals. Basically the same as they did for FarCry when they added HDR.

If you are into modding then the recommendations for 4GB are not as far fetched as they sound...

The concept of playing it 'maxed' is a continually moving goal post.
Apart from supporting the video rendering, the spare capacity you have will go into the AI and critically the physicalisation calcs.

Like with Far Cry the in game experience will evolve as the HW gets more powerfull.
Anyone who played it 3 years ago and wasnt impressed by the AI, try it again with a current rig on Realistic

So can that rig make it look and play as good as any other machine on the market? Pretty much; so long as you are running it on a Vista Ultimate platform.
Will it take everything the engine is capable of?
Nope...

@Sime, sounds like me you put 100 trees in a very small space then tossed the grenade and watched your rig whimper then melt? :D

Yes, it is impossible to tell now what will run Crysis 'maxed.' In fact it is more likely that no system now will run it completely maxed, as they said it should last for 2 or 3 years of new technology. I would recommend getting a P35 chipset motherboard, to allow you to upgrade easier in the future. I'd recommend the GA_P35C_DS3R, as it supports the new Intel chips, as well as up to DDR21066 and DDR3 RAM.

Ask in the Hardware forums for further advice.

well im goin to run it on full and all i have is a c2d e2060 @3Ghz 2 gig of ram and a x1950pro
are you now? unless that card has suddenly become capable of DX10 i think not. Im going to run it at whatever i can get with my X1950XT, should be pretty high DX 9 i hope.
