ill only play it on 1024*768 tho
...so long as you are running it on a Vista Ultimate platform.
NOTHING will run Crysis maxed: Crytek have gone on record saying the game is designed to make a computer built 3 years from now sweat its cogs trying to run it maxed! The game is mainly a tech demo for their new graphics engine, and that graphics engine has been built with future technologies in mind as well.
That said, yours will run it better than mine!![]()
They stated an E6600, 2GB ram, and a low end 8800 (premusably the GTS) will run it on Ultra-High, not "Maxed". So i would just go by that. That statement came from the Crytek CEO.
We may not even care how it runs if it doesn't turn out as good as we hoped....

Yeah, I remember them saying just how easy it was to bring an 'uber' system to it's knees with the new engine.
Don't bode well for me though, medium settings F T W!![]()
Is this just a case of poor coding from Crytech though?
I mean something like Fear was crippling in places for many a PC but didn't look much better than Half Life 2.
Okay, this is Crysis and this is on DX10... ground breaking and all that... etc...etc...
But surely if they're developing this game engine on current hardware and it wont run... it's just shoddy coding.
Hell if I did that in my job and said to my boss "don't worry the code grinds the server to a halt... we just need to buy a new server or wait a year or two and it'll run smoothly..." I'd probably get smacked up side the head!
No, you are wrong.
Your example isnt applicable, Crysis wont grind a decent system to a halt, because you can change its settings.
It will be like Far Cry, in the sense that there wasnt really anything to run it with all the frills on for AGES after release.
Just because they CAN bring a system to its knees doesnt mean they will, it just means the game will be better looking as time goes on.. much like Far Cry did?
Its not shoddy coding, its good coding, in the sense that they have coded features in that only future hardware could support, or faster hardware than is currently available could run at an acceptable framerate.
Isnt that clever?![]()
