Whenever people moan about the monarchy i say that they are where they are because of ^ and to raise an army and kick them off the throne. Generally a bit a confused look and then nothing.
'I don't think people realise how the establishment became established. They simply stole land and property from the poor, surrounded themselves with weak minded sycophants for protection, gave themselves titles and have been wielding power ever since.' - Tony Benn
I see it as a sort of duty. I'm not particularly involved in the local community or anything but I'm conscious of the part I play in certain things. For me, it comes down to asking yourself "How does looking back at pictures of the goings on around Liz's coronation make you feel?". If you feel nothing then fair enough. If they make you feel any sort of positive emotion then remember, these things didn't happen and don't continue to happen on their own. If people like you and I don't contribute they will, slowly - but surely - die. If you're OK with then then fair enough, just be conscious of the part you play.
The monarchy sits at the summit of the UK's iniquitous class structure. This country needs to mature and grow up and not keep this toxic class system going. It's a legitimate moment to challenge the status quo that underpins the ongoing social inequality in the UK.
I think this country will finally grow up if we get rid of the monarchy altogether. So I won't be wasting my time celebrating the Coronation of a petulant entitled man who expects someone to run his bath, put toothpaste on his toothbrush and has a hissy fit if someone breaks with tradition and leaves a room before him.
Charles has a chequered history, on the whole, disheartening and to be honest, doesn't deserve the title.
Harry and Andrew, are a waste of space. I'm not enamoured; but we are witnessing a truly historical moment.
Under Charles the Duchy of Cornwall has become a nice little earner,
producing a distributable surplus of £22 million in 2019/20. Did anyone see "Countryfile" the week before last about Dumfries House, which Charles owns? Its 5 acre walled garden and hundreds of acres of grounds were recently renovated by unpaid volunteers. A man with his wealth gets people to remodel his garden for free!
No. The country is in the toilet and we're expected to celebrate a new overlord taking the throne? Get lost.
I'd like to see the Crown Estate nationalized. It's worth tens of billions of pounds and generates a huge annual income for the UK sovereign. Money which could be better spent on the NHS and public services as well as ensuring the most vulnerable have an adequate income.
Brexit, Covid-fraud, and now a Coronation. When is this country ever going to get to grips with the real business of a 21st century democracy and take itself sufficiently seriously to modernise our inherited, anachronistic, totally unfit-for-purpose institutions?
I am a royalist but find it hard to be very enamoured with the current ones, since the passing of the late Queen Elizabeth. I have always found Charles wet, if not slightly crackers
Well, here's an interesting fact about his income stream for you:
Money [£1 million] from residents of Cornwall who die without leaving a will and who have no known surviving relatives goes to Charles thanks to “laws that govern unclaimed assets – or ‘bona vacantia’ – dating back to the reign of King William IV”...

Couple of genuine questions :
Why do we have a coronation when there's no requirement for one?
Why is the taxpayer paying for it rather than the King?
Because a Coronation is an affirmation of the power and dominance of the Monarch and a splendid distraction for the plebs who might otherwise be stirring up trouble for their betters.
Inheritance tax on the late Queen's estate (valued at over £2 billion) is not paid and the Royal Family also received £86.3 million of taxpayer money in 2021-22. Any monarch who thinks it is acceptable for someone with such enormous wealth to avoid paying taxes and to spend £100m of taxpayer money on their Coronation does not share my values.
So how many of you will do the pledge of allegiance?
I actually just got banned from Twitter for telling a Royalist what I thought about that idea!
I remember Charles making an oath of loyalty in St Paul's Cathedral to his first wife. He broke that pretty quickly, so I'll be damned if I'm going to swear allegiance to him.
