Whose coming back for the next one in 20 years time :D

I very much hope the next one is a lot sooner than 20 years time. I am still of the view, as i have always been that William and Kate should be the next king and queen. I just hope that i live long enough to see that happen and Diana's legacy live on past the end of my lifetime.

You didn't answer the question about bowing down and serving your master.

I have been working off and on so haven't been paying a huge amount of attention to the forum today. I am afraid I missed that question, would you mind repeating it and I'll attempt to answer your query if I can? Thanks.

Sky News - Everyone is getting emotional, especially when the king was kissed... I nearly cried

Baaaaaaaaaaaaah Sheep! That's enough of 2mins worth of News for me, now onto Dungeons and Dragons!

Gotta love the irony here...

Had to laugh when a customer had his elderly father drop him off here to pick up his car. The conversation turned to the coronation and the son, obviously some sort of Republican stated they were idle scroungers. His dad, well into his seventies just looked at me and laughed, saying, "There's more work in his mother's litle finger than there ever has been in this son of mine, and she's been dead fifteen odd years".

I kept out of, he hadn't paid the bill at that stage... :)

This was always going to happen though really. There'll be zero tolerance shown today, can't be upsetting the high and mighty, and the establishment can pretend that everyone loves them.

And you think that is right? How can the British government criticise Putin for arresting peaceful protestors in Russia when it arrests peaceful protestors in London before they even get a chance to start protesting?

A van being driven by a known protest group very near to the parade route gets stopped and everyone is surprised?

That "known protest group" has been cooperating with the Police for weeks. They had told the Met what they wanted to do and where and a plan had been agreed with the Police in advance. But by following the rules for peaceful protests they shot themselves in the foot because the Police knew exactly where the protestors were going to meet up to get their placards from the van. Hence it was easy to arrest the protestors with the van and confiscate their placards when it arrived at the pick-up point.

Not the cleverest idea parking up a large box van close to a heavily policed parade area you dont think they are going to want to turn that van inside out? Is terrorism not a thing anymore?

Are you kidding? The Police knew all about the van already. That protest group was totally honest about their plans for the day and had discussed what they wanted to do with the Police well in advance. Besides, the van contained placards and bottles of water. All the Police had to do was look in it to see that it didn't contain a bomb!

That is a fair point if they didn't inform the Police they were going to protest.

No idea if there was/wasn't communication beforehand.

Edit: if it happens to individuals in the crowd who have signs then that's a different matter.

They did inform the Police exactly what protesting they were planning to do. Yes, there had been back-and-forth communication with the Police for weeks beforehand. Where are protestors going to get their placards from now that the Met have confiscated a Luton van full of them?

Im judging by what stupid things these “ peaceful protestors” have been doing lately

These are not "Just Stop Oil" or "Extinction Rebellion" protestors. But laws which were drafted to tackle their protests are now being misused to stop protests against the monarchy. Furthermore, the new anti-protest laws were given royal assent by Charles last Tuesday and came into effect last Wednesday, just in time for the Coronation.

...“Key measures in the bill will come into force just days before the coronation of King Charles – a significant event in our country’s history that is bound to inspire a wider national conversation and public protests. At the same time, the government are using a statutory instrument to bring draconian measures that the House of Lords threw out of the bill back from the dead, once again evading scrutiny and accountability.

“It’s worrying to see the police handed so many new powers to restrict protest, especially before a major national event. When the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act came into force, the police repeatedly misused them – in part because they simply did not understand them. Similarly, when Queen Elizabeth died, we saw police acting in inappropriate and heavy-handed ways towards protesters that violated their rights.”... Source

It must be my age, but I remember when vans were hired and used as bombs in London.

The Police already knew the timetable of these protestors because they had discussed it with them in advance, ostensibly to prevent any conflict, ensure public safety and avoid them doing anything which would be illegal. Thus it was easy for the Police to swoop in before the protest had even begun, arrest the ringleaders and confiscate all their placards. The position of the van at that time was also known to the Police as it was at the designated pick-up point for protestors to get their placards and water bottles!

I’m justifying the state detaining anyone acting suspiciously that close to a security cordon on a day when there are hundreds of thousands of people packed together.

That sort of disingenuous anti-terrorism excuse just won't wash in this case.
