I've always said that the instrument that looses the most at poor quality rips are cymbals - the "glassiness" of cymbals tends to be lost at poor quality rips. This is especially noticeable if you listen to people with Paiste cymbals as they are brighter and more shimmering than the others - and also probably because Pink Floyd are the band I had low quality rips of before ripping to 320. (Nick Mason plays Paiste 2oo2's) The cymbals sound a LOT better on high quality rips :)

None that actively search you out like the RIAA and MPAA, but yes, we do. I believe it is called the BPI.
