Wimbledon 2021

Who knows how many titles Federer, Djokovic and Nadal would've won had Del Potro stayed fit. I think he was capable of winning a few on hard courts and would've likely won as many as Murray and Wawrinka, if not more.

Yeah, after the Federer match on Wednesday I thought Hurkacz would almost certainly win today.

These once in a blue moon beatings of the big 3 by a random player playing the game of his life usually follow up with a quick crash out in the next round. Getting over that mountain then following up is obviously a tough ask.

Im still skeptical, I do agree that he’s still good enough for the top 20/10 which really sums up the state of men’s tennis.

The 1000 he won didn’t have any of the big dogs, he also has to face up and coming Sinner (who looks the real deal) so that fired him right up the rankings.

I'm not sure you're being entirely fair on Hurkacz there - on the way to winning the Miami Masters he beat Shapovalov, Raonic, Tsitsipas, Rublev and then Sinner in the final.

Exactly my point.

Berrettini going to have to continue to serve this good to have a chance against Novax in the final. Suspect it’ll be a close first set, 7-6, 6-4, 6-4. Wonder what the O/U games will be around 35.5.

Bit of niggle at the end of that match, no idea what caused it but Berrettini didn't really acknowledge him at the end or as he walked off.

Hoping Shapovalov doesn't fold against Djokovic, been really impressive so far.

Several of those players are top 10, Tsitsipas is ranked #2 in the race.

Just what exactly has a player got to do for you to consider them not just some 'random' having a good day?

The random player remark was for Hurkacz and other who out of the blue have beaten the big 3. Istomin, Rosol, Darcis, Chung etc

lets not beat around the bush here, Shapo looks to be coming of age here. He’s very inconsistent and hasn’t ever been a threat in slams this is the first time in his career he’s been in week2 of a slam - they’ve just said first time he’s got past r2!

Ranoic is getting on now and is mainly just a serving bot.

Tsit prime example of the next gen, goes deep in one slam then instantly goes out in the next. Harsh? Perhaps but it is a fair comment at the moment.

rublev is good and consistently wins matches, I’m sure at one point in the last season or so he actually won more titles than anyone else with 8 and sinner I’ve already said is still a teenager in his first final.

The next gen have got to start stepping up to the plate.

I'm all for equal opportunities but the blind line judges they've been using all tournament need to go, they've been shocking.

Edit: Pressure getting to Shapovalov already, Djokovic's name alone must go a long way to beaten people.

Well, we'll agree to disagree, not a lot of point continuing this discussion, I just think that Hurkacz deserves a little more respect than being labelled a 'random'. You don't agree with that, fair enough.

Definitely. He got to another GS final even with a compromised backhand.

As for this match I think taking the first set was crucial for Shapovalov's slim chances, Djokovic is too good a front runner.

Interesting that the line for this match was 31.5, if he avoids the bagel he’s done better than expect.

Holds.

Fair play, at least he didn’t fold as others feared as well.
