Win 7 SP1 gets dated?

Sp1 installed fine, however it said " failed to update, check your update history ", So i did that and it turned out to be KB2387530 and it hasn't shown up again in the update's.

It then said i had two more updates left, even though none showed up previous to SP1. Installed a mouse driver and KB2488113, everything else seems ok at the moment

Same issue with mine, although everthing seems ok. I will do a fresh install in the future though.

Hmm maybe I spoke to soon earlier!

Last night I ran the cleanup command to free up a few GB I didn't really need to free up (but what the hell anyway, eh?) and when I rebooted this morning All of my USB devices stopped working so could not log in :p

I logged in via RDP and saw devmgr reporting issues with all USB controllers.

Will have to resolve it when I get home using a PS/2 keyboard as RDP is playing up from work. That should be fun as my mobo doesn't have a PS/2 mouse port :p

If you've instaled SP1 using a non sliptreamed/intergrated ISO then check your USB driver versions, if any are dated 2009 then you could be affected as well so apply the fix I guess :p

Fix was posted earlier but it's here:

Command to check driver versions: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/th...USB-Driver-Bug-(what-it-is-and-how-to-fix-it)

Code:
cd %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers
dir usbehci.sys usbport.sys winusb.sys

Yeah clean installs should be fine I guess - I'm half tempted to wipe and clean install too but there's really no need!

Yeah the problem only shows itself after a cleanup because it removes previous hotfixes that are superseded by SP1 and this also removes the catalogue files which then renders the older USB drivers unsigned and Windows as we know doesn't like unsigned drivers.

I'm hoping a simple connect via RDP or PS/2 keyboard will help resolve the issue after I run the batch file but RDP from work isn't playing ball today.

Oh well :p

From the digitallife link above.
'Who's not affected, anyone who installed using an official integrated ISO'
So is the official integrated ISO the windows update?

It seems microsoft has just released yesterday a February 2011 of System Update Readiness Tool.

Do you need this if you have SP1 installed?

System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [February 2011]
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=914fbc5b-1fba-4bae-a7c3-d2c47c6fcffc

The KB article says if you have an issue that the tool can fix it should be offered by Windows Update, so if it isn't offered you don't need it.

Well it certainly isn`t showing up on Windows Update for me, so it looks like I don`t need it then.

Thanks mate for the quick response.

Tried 3 times to install this through win update.
After restarting it just reboots as it keeps failing.
Error: ERROR_NOT_FOUND(0x80070490)
Have tried all the tips from Microsoft tho fix this to no avail.
Looks like service pack 1 is no go

Try the system readiness update listed above, it states that error as one it can possibly fix.

Back up and running :)

It's amazing how vile it is using mechanical switch keyboards lol!

FWIW, the method of fix that I used was to just log in locally using a PS/2 keyboard then uninstall all USB controllers in Device Manager and Reboot. Apparently that's the "Messy" method because it forces Windows to assign new ids to hardware and thus stuff like TV cards need retuning in MCE - I had none of that faff, everything works exactly as it used to.
