Win 7 SP1 gets dated?

Why are they named "windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe" and not "windows7-KB976932-X64.exe"???

It’s the MS internal numbering system (kernel version) for windows:

Windows 2000 - 5.0
Windows XP - 5.1
Windows Server 2003 - 5.2
Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 - 6.0
Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 - 6.1

Currently downloading the DVD iso at 1.7mb/sec (will no doubt need this at some point) - just noticed my broadband speed has been upgraded for free to 17MB!! I wondered why local connections near me have been erratic recently. Will need to advise 'build' friends of the update.

Going to do mine via Windows Update soon - should be small anyway...

I'm getting an out of memory error when logging into windows, serveral programs crashing and watson client stopped working...

Any basic programs and facilities all fail as well, done the update through Windows Update and its the 64bit version!

Back to pre SP1 for now I think :(

My install of Windows 7 is quite recent so I dont have a great deal installed, not sure if that will make any difference?

I think I'll wait until they fix the bugs, keep seeing so many people having problems after installing it.

Why does it say it was released today? . . . . . . .

Mine is genuine OEM.

I got it today and I’m on the Ultimate build containing SP1 from last week. It either missed the boat or they are making sure that activation and validation fix is in place.

Don't know if this is the right place to ask but here goes :p

I downloaded those two ISO files from MDL and installed Home Premium 64bit fine on my desktop with my retail key.

If I use the same procedure on my Netbook with Windows 7 Starter (obviously using the 32bit ISO) using the OEM product key that came with the computer does it activate fine? Or do I have to use the icky recovery partition for it to be all nice and activated?

Yeh, I guess.

Will be fine.

Did mine in the early hours of this morning...took about 25mins, all seems fine(touch wood) :)

Sp1 installed fine, however it said " failed to update, check your update history ", So i did that and it turned out to be KB2387530 and it hasn't shown up again in the update's.

It then said i had two more updates left, even though none showed up previous to SP1. Installed a mouse driver and KB2488113, everything else seems ok at the moment
