A1, Because Corsair make some of the best power supply unit (PSU) currently on the market using Seasonic components, plus I'm currently in need of a new PSU for my new build with is black and blue themed using Corsair and Gigabyte hardware :D.

A2, Very small ripple from the PSU supplying good clean power to the phases, allowing you to push the overclock much further, also the 12v Rail is very strong allowing massive overclocks to GPU's (as long as they support over voting)

There are a plethora of reasons why I would like to win the above product. First and foremost, as a hopefully worthy competitor for the MSI 7970 Lightning (see my entry here - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=22827741&postcount=194), I am acutely conscious of my current PSU's inability to power such a beastly graphics card, should I win it. Furthermore, having just taken the plunge to upgrade my Core 2 Duo system (spurred on by Andrew Moore's cracking B-grade motherboard deals today), my system will be all the more in need of a stable supply of copious wattage, which is precisely what this PSU offers. Secondly, and with an appeal to aesthetic value, this PSU would rid me of the "unwieldy mythical tentacled monstrosity of unused cables [which] clutter up the inside of [my] case" (cf. Corsair product page). Thirdly, and still within the realm of aesthetics, the blue-on-black colour scheme of this PSU perfectly complements the colour scheme of my PC, from the blue heatsink on black PCB of the Gigabyte Z77-UD5H motherboard which I have just purchased (cf above), to the black and blue of my Sapphire 5850 Extreme (also purchased from here), to my black PC case, black Noiseblocker fans and blue CC's. In short, my PC is crying out for this PSU as a baby blackbird cries out to its mother for food... :confused:

If you really need this question answering, then you shouldn't be working for Overclockers UK, nor should you really be perusing this forums. But put simply, it's because it doesn't actually make any bird-noises whilst fulfilling its role of feeding power-hungry components.

No mostly because I have heard great things about Seasonic and Corsair PSU's and would love first hand to know really how good they are! Plus for the cabling to make my rig look smarter! :)

First and foremost its a quality piece of kit with a Gold certification!
And secondly because it sniffs at the words "power requirements!" with its superb components :D
All along with a 7 year warranty so its not goanna go sky high! :eek:

1. Why do you want to win a Corsair Professional Series HX+ 850W PSU?

I really want to win this PSU because I currently have an Antec EarthWatts 500W PSU, which is now at least 4 years old so may be near its deathbed time :p Also, I currently have a 4850, which is like 3 years old and probably near its deathbed as well :p And it just isn't cutting it for the latest games thus I need to upgrade to a more powerful GPU, however, my PSU is holding me back from getting the likes of a 570, 7950, 670 etc. and unfortunately I can't afford (:o) to purchase both items yet especially two top end products, so winning this would greatly help me out!

Aside from my reasons for needing a new PSU etc. this particular PSU looks perfect as:

- 7-Year Warranty
- 80 PLUSR Gold Certified efficiency
- Super quiet with the fanless operation at lower power loads, very important for me as my PC case is literally right next to me on my desk
- Modular - will make the inside of my Raider look much nicer and also make the cable management far easier too
- Gives me another item to review for these forums and the front page of neowin :p ;)
- Plenty of power for future proofing, which will come in handy when/if I decide to go the crossfire/SLI route whilst also being able to overclock my CPU etc.

- use quality parts (Industrial grade components such as 105C high quality capacitors)

- 850W, which is more than enough for a beast of a setup and lots of overclocking

My current PSU is very long in the tooth, it works but is horribly inefficient and has no cable management options at all!

Corsair is hands down the best in terms of quality, performance and style.

1: I would like to win a corsair HX+ 850w PSU because my current HX850 is a little dusty :p .......on a more serious note, if I win I will donate this to my GF towards her new rig, so she can play guild wars 2 on that instead of mine.

2: the PSU is ideal for overclocking as it has over current/voltage/power protection to avoid power surge damage, 0.99PFC, which (I think) soothes ripple when current and voltage are out of phase, and a single 12v rail with enough current for any CPU/(1-2)GPU setup imaginable

I am building a PC for my nearly 3 year old and this would be a superb component to include as I have had Corsair PSU's before and they are reliable, quiet and have good cable management. The customer service is also excellent too they will send you extra cables out free of charge. Plus my wife and I are fed up of our son changing settings on our PC's we never knew existed or fully know how to reverse!

For years, I have been using a 400w Enermax liberty power supply, its solid as a rock, but really, I always worry that the next upgrade will be too much for it. With a bigger better power supply, I'd be much more inclined to overclock, more likely to invest in bigger graphics cards, and more.. it would open so many doors for me..

The PSU i currently have is only 550w coolermaster and came free with the case i am currently using, while this is a sufficient psu for the setup I currently have, it does run loud and limits my cable management options so its something ive been meaning to change for a while now.

When i hear the name Corsair its always something that I associate with the highest quality components. So by my logic its something that won't bug out on me if i try pushing some extra juice through my cpu or graphics card :)

It has a whopping 7 year warrenty! Also the Industrial grade components, like 105C high quality capacitors, provide quality and consisentcy. And you can only use the cables you need due to it being modular.
