Yes it doesn't state it by word, by loyal I don't necessarily mean people who have been here for years with thousands of posts, but just people that actually take part in the forum, help others etc. and don't just all of a sudden join the forum as soon as they see a competition and then don't bother with the forum again until the next competition.

At least you have been here for a couple of months and your posts are decent, not like the majority of people who spam 1 liners across the entire forum to get access to free shipping and the MM

I think everyone who has been a proper member here, especially the ones who have been here for a lot longer with many more posts will be annoyed if someone who joined in June 2011 and only had 1 post, which was in this thread wins this competition as opposed to someone who has been here for ages with loads of helpful/useful posts winning this competition.

Only 3 more weeks before the winner is announced! :D

I can't remember what answers I put, hope I did them right! :(

Will OcUK say how many people have entered? There must be a lot more than the 200 odd posts in this thread.

in that case it'l be a 1 in 20 chance of winning something :p

I don't think the majority of people who lose out will give a monkeys whether it was a newbie or someone who has been here years with millions of posts.
If you lose, you lose.

Getting hung up on the fact this comp has drawn in loads of new forum members is fighting the entire point of this promotion!

Fair enough! :)

Although there was another forum, which was offering a prize of $2000 (obviously a bit of a difference now between that and a £170-200 GPU) and of course a ton of new members joined and some guy who had only 40 posts won it and he was never seen on the forum again, nearly every single long term member with lots of posts on that forum where ****** about it, I can't link to it as it has bad language and some other things.

Again, not really, because most of the people who did just join this forum in order to enter this competition still only have 1 post and I think it is pretty obvious that they aren't going to all of a sudden be posting here if they win a 560 for free. If they win, they are going to bugger off until the next competition.

Plus as said before it is obviously MSI who are wanting to advertise their products/company, just look at all the competitions in this sub forum that are by MSI & OCUK, and also most of the other threads are always MSI related, obviously there is some form of a partnership between them. Also the fact that there never seems to anything like this by ASUS, Gainward, HIS etc. And obviously ScottiB used to work for OCUK and now works for MSI.

If OCUK were really wanting to get more customers, they are going to want to make sure that everyone of their customers or potential customers sees it, so they should be putting it on their front main shop page.

Anyway no point us discussing this any more as we have both stated our opinions many times now and we are never going to agree with each other :p

EDIT:

Is there any way of seeing how many users have created an account here for each day?

I've stayed quiet about your stiring and complaining because frankly I completely understand your point. However, other than making one of their forum members happy OcUK have no reason to allow me to run the competition if I do not help to drive more traffic to their forum.

If out of 10 people who register only one or two stick around that is still more than there would have been without the competition.

Now, the reason for this post is that I take exception to the insinuation of the quoted statement, there is no partnership that would exclude any other vendors. OcUK are simply one of our selected focus resellrs and there nothing underhand going on whatsoever.

The reason why you see so much MSI presence/so many MSI competitions and little/none from other vendors is NOT because of some arrangement with OcUK. If other vendors bothered to try and run competitions for you forum members then I guarantee that OcUK would have no problem with it.

the fact is, MSI understand the value of forum communities and personally I understand the value of OcUK and especially this forum. As a result I do everything in my power to provide a good MSI presence here.

There is no favouritism going on, you are just seeing one part of a very focused effort on my part to improve MSI's UK presence. If other vendors were as active as we are then you would see the same from them.

Now I've said my bit, good luck to all who entered. I will stop accepting entries at midnight tonight and announce the winners next week (a very recent family bereavement may prevent it being early next week so please bear with me)

Hi there :),

Firstly sorry, if I may have come a little bit OTT in my posts (but in nearly all my posts I always go into detail :p).

But I am not stirring anything nor complaining as quite frankly this is a great competition by MSI and OCUK and who ever wins the GPU is very lucky.

As said before, personally I think all the people who just joined this month to enter this competition shouldn't be allowed as mentioned before, they are most likely duplicate accounts and if those people did go to different computers/internet connections etc. there would be no way that you would know about it and also IMO, I think it is a kick in the ***** to the more loyal forum members who have been here for ages with loads of useful posts losing out on this GPU to someone who just joined with no posts and not bothering again with this forum most likely.

Just my opinion.

If out of 10 people who register only one or two stick around that is still more than there would have been without the competition.

True, but most people who would only be aware of this competition are the forum members here and guests that just visit this forum (like I use to many years ago and then I finally joined and took part in the forum), people who aren't aware of OCUK site aren't going to come across this site/forum by just searching "free 560" on google and then go through all of the results. So the guests will only be joining in order to enter this competition, not for any other reason most likely and once done just go back to their guest status.

Now, the reason for this post is that I take exception to the insinuation of the quoted statement, there is no partnership that would exclude any other vendors. Again I am not disputing that fact and I am also not saying that there is anything wrong with what MSI and OCUK are doing, you are both massive businesses and every company advertises and obviously if ASUS and GB did offer something similar, there would be no reason to not do as you said in order to increase their presence in the UK etc.

It just comes across to me like that (just because I post my opinion doesn't mean that I am right) and also the way the questions are about the MSI GPU (but then I suppose you couldn't really ask anything else as this is the most relevant thing to the competition obviously :p) i.e the questions on the features so people who aren't aware of MSI GPUs will go and do research on the MSI 560 and see all of the cool features that it has etc. (which will increase your presence even more and obviously sales, nothing wrong with that) but as said the other companies probably couldn't be bothered doing anything like this either especially ASUS :p

the fact is, MSI understand the value of forum communities and personally I understand the value of OcUK and especially this forum. As a result I do everything in my power to provide a good MSI presence here.

Not disputing that either, nothing wrong with providing a good service to us computer enthusiasts on this forum, especially since we all love our GPUs here, which is very well shown on these forums everytime a new release by both ATI and Nvidia comes about :p

There is no favouritism going on, you are just seeing one part of a very focused effort on my part to improve MSI's UK presence. If other vendors were as active as we are then you would see the same from them.

Again, there is nothing wrong with advertising/improving the companys presence/image especially on a computer forum as all companies would not get any where if they didn't have some form of advertisement and it is a business after all.

Sorry for another long post :p and I hope you see what I am trying to put across in a clearer concise manner :)

And BTW I don't have anything against MSI as I have been considering upgrading my 4850 to this MSI 560 or the GB one or the MSI twin frz 6950. As the twin frz coolers are exceptionally quite and great for getting rid of heat etc. Plus they look very nice :D

Thanks.
