Win8 Tablets

I wish MS would hurry up and put the Surface Pro up for pre-order.
I want a full Win8 tab but until the Surface Pro is available and priced, I'm not making a decision.

Tell me about it! The RT went up for preorder round about the 17th, and came out the 26th, so I hope it is similar with the Pro :)

I hope, this means ms will expand their own hardware. So bloody true as well, even now there's very few tablets about and even less in mass production and easily available. It was a shamble and totally destroyed what should have been the busiest period of the year.

Exclusive Microsoft blames PC makers for underwhelming Windows 8 sales over Christmas, The Register has learned. The software giant accused manufacturers of not building enough attractive Win 8-powered touchscreen tablets.

So how many of these tablets are out yet? Will we see the Pro in a week or so too like in the US? Really hoping to get a Win8 tablet soon.

Ones that seem readily available:
Acer W510
Acer W700
Sony Vaio Duo
HP X2

No release for anywhere other than US and Canada so far for the Surface Pro. Your guess is as good as anyone's.

I just spotted the Asus Vivo Tab ME400C, which I believe is a full win8 tablet for £399 anyone seen one or read a review? I know theres no sky go app but I'm guessing if its full win8 you could run it via browser on desktop?

Yeah, it's an Atom based tab so full Win8 support. It looks OK and the price is good. Remember that that price doesn't include the keyboard dock.
It also seems to have a weird cover arrangement that people who have reviewed it have complained about.

Hmm, that looks v tempting. Can't seem to find the keyboard for sale anywhere though, any help? Any others similar to this out soon? Getting v bored of waiting, and getting a Lumia 620 with win phone 8 has made me want to replace my Transformer TF101even more!

It's still a complete shambles.

Kupa x15 is now available for pre-order est delivery April. £839.68 all the way upto £1221.70 depending on model.

Asus transformer book is also now available for pre order in USA $1,479.99, and it no longer even has a discreet GPU in the keyboard dock.

Yet relestically by the time anything decent comes out, it's not long till haswell could be out.
Also amd is showing off a jaguar based reference tablet at MWC next week, that could be a much better option than atom or I series.

How can they all **** this up so badly.

I doubt it seeing as some of the manufactures are reliant on ms.
Even asus which makes. A lot of android, still have a. Big ms market.

It's like they have their heads in the sand. They k ow traditional computing platforms have slowed, a release of a new os, was never going to get it back again. It's just a dying platform. But they don't seem to want to support the new age of computing.

It's insane.

Trouble is I don't like atom, it has no GPU grunt.
I need something that can play games.
That's why I loved the rumoured asus transformer book.
Hd4000 GPU I side that would run many basic games. And a discreet GPU in the key lard dock.

Jaguar looks interesting, can't wait for the reviews next week, assuming people actually get hands on with the amd reference tablet.

Got one reserved at a local store till Monday cob, still cant decide if I should go for it or not. I'm thinking if I buy online at least I can DSR it if I don't like it

Just picked my Surface Pro 128GB from the Microsoft Store here in Houston while on business

Wow its a serious bit of kit compared to the RT!

Quick qestion.
What are the boot times on both the RT and 'full fat' tablets?
Are they instant like Apple/Android, or do you have the normal Windows boot process?

I don't know that any ipad or android tablet are instant from cold boot, ive just tested my sons tab 2 7.0 and that took 42secs, my full fat win8 pc is just over half that, unless you mean from standby?

Surface RT from off to login screen: 27s.

If you mean just wake up and networks coming back online, for all intents and purposes it's instant. It's just like an iPad or similar tablet.
