Window Tints

Spoken like a true ling long customer - it's great you've saved £20 isn't it? But you have to take corners slower then everyone else especially when it's wet and good luck with the emergency stops.

Never tried ling longs in paticular, but have tryed budget/premium/mid-range given with new cars etc, and tbh, I have not noticed much difference on public roads.

Thank god you dont live near me, you sound like jail bait on the roads :p

And what exactly is wrong with ling long tyres? I believe they conform to regulations and are fit for purpose...He might not drive like a ****, so wont need high performances tyres to help him stay alive...

Really, is that so. Have a look at the tire tests and see how downright dangerous cheapo tires are.

I suppose saving £20 a tires is well worth the risk of aquaplaning on the motorway, understeering into a tree because you made a slight misjudgement on a bend or running a kid over because your crap tires can't stop in time.

The whole you don't need performances tires arguement is crap, when a dangerous situation occurs good rubber can be the difference between an accident and getting away with it. Cheap tires have a bad habit of losing traction immediately so one second you have grip and the next you've lost it. The continentals fitted to my car loose grip very gradually making it very easy to feel where the grip is and when I need to slow down.

But I suppose none of that matters when you think of all the rubbish you can buy from halfords with the money saved.

:/

What?

I had some budget tyres on my car and it slide everywhere without being provoked, now I have decent tyres (Goodyear Eagle F1s) and it doesn't slide or try to step out, even when I provoke it.

Oh right?

As I said, my mate put one on his DTurbo, and it sounded like a wet fart.

Just wondered what a diesel 'sports' exhaust would sound like, and found a few youtube videos,

Not quite as bad as I thought, a bit 'boxerish'.. and quite far away from a high revving petrol, but not quite 'wet fart'.. :)

I wouldn't quite go there myself!..

I would get your car checked out in that case...

Oh really? You think I haven't had that done? I'm not retarded when it comes to cars thanks. The car is running fine, it can be improved handling-wise, but it doesn't need to be for it to be safe, which it is.

I take it you've not driven a RWD car with no form of traction control in the wet round corners with budget tyres on the rear?

Haha

Get a clue mate. My car is perfect, the alignment and suspension is tip top and with my good quality tires it handles outstandingly.

You can't tell me you never had a car pull out on you or brake sharply in front of you? Because in those situations cheap tires won't be any help.

if your that worried about killing the kids, stick to the limits instead of relying on your conti's to help you.

I do keep to the limits but when someone pulls or runs right out in front of you, keeping to the speed limit is no help at all.

Heh, you really don't have a clue do you. I cba to totally reiterate what everyone else has said, but I'm sure you'll realise cheap crap tyres are a false economy when you're paying for repairs to your car after misjudging a corner/roundabout in the wet and sliding into a solid object. Or your increased insurance premium after rear-ending someone with high performance tyres and stability control who has performed an emergency stop in the wet and you couldn't stop in time. ;)

I have. God bless the "Diplomat" tyres that came with my MX5. Not. :D

I didn't have to drive like a **** to get the back end to break lose on mini roundabouts in the wet with the pap tyres my car had on previously.

Yes, if you drive like a ****...

You reeaaaalllly don't have a clue.

I'll give an example...

My old Saab was a boat, the Titanic handled better....so in reality, you couldn't really thrash it about in the lanes as it just wouldn't go round them. The original tyres on it were nonames and in the wet on a roundabout it would understeer no end, it was very dangerous.

Replaced the tyres with some semi decent ones (BF-Goodrich) - oh look, understeer cured! (unless you drove it like a ****)
