Windows 10

Not even an MS account i've done a complete wipe and reinstall only using local accounts and it activated again.

Yep I have a big problem I think with my original key now, I just hope it's referring to my Windows 10 activation as being blocked. I would just rather not reinstall again but it looks like I have no choice.

did you try

"slui.exe 4" in admin cmd? It brings up the phone thing for me and mines activated already :P

Yep it does work just going through the process now. I can't see how it will possibly work though? Lol

EDIT: It says "Oh dear" when I enter the Installation ID so going to get passed through to Activation support lol.

Also, the server is being hammered, that error code saying your key is blocked doesn't actually mean that it is. (Silly I know)

Give it a few days, should sort itself out if not then request callback.

Straight through to tech support, they will not activate it over the phone as they just say I need to wait because of the servers.

As soon as I say I have waited and it was activated before they then ask about the error I'm getting. After this I get transferred.

The blocked error code, is also the same code you get when servers are to busy, I had that for just over a day, then it activated on it's own, even spamming the activate button didn't work.

Yeh I agree with you it was the same. The problem is with it suddenly becoming unactivated after upgrading the BIOS I can't see how it will suddenly just activate?

Why wouldn't it, we can only assume it's changed the hardware hash so it's unactivated, you'll have to wait and see if it will activate. If it doesn't activate after a couple of days then you'll have to do something. It's not much of an issue for a few days.

I don't see how they could have made it any simpler than the "click here to get Windows 10" method they have used?

Its not a matter of how easy it is to get!

Its the fact that people always seem to have big issues with their software on release. Always takes many updates to get things running smoother when an OS is a very long time in development. In other words they could very easily make it more compatible. They have had years in developing OS's. I know they cant cater for every bit of hardware around and all the different setups but i am sure they could do it a lot better than what they do now. Even if it is free.

Just installed on my Asus X205TA. Took about half an hour, opted not to keep anything. Working great so far, but I had to run Disk Cleanup otherwise it had left behind all of the old installation and installation files, taking up about 14GB.

Quite liking the upgrade so far, but having the same activation issues as lots of people. Microsoft have said to just wait - don't touch the product key, and don't try to reinstall Windows or force activation. They say it will be fixed within a few days.

The thing I like most is the new dual monitor support. Multiple taskbars now inbuilt, and it's great being able to run a game at non-native res on one monitor without it impacting the other.

You can mount the iso in windows 8.1 by double clicking on it and run the update that way
in windows 7 just extract the iso with 7zip and run the setup and upgrade

or of course burn them to a disk or usb (with rufus)

You can do an upgrade with the ISO as well as a clean install. Its the same files you are getting though the media tool, just pre packaged into an ISO.

Just download, mount and run Setup.exe.

Cool. If it fails this evening I'll do that then :)

So I haven't installed the drivers yet for my HP network printer, but then when I enabled fire sharing across my network, when it found the printer it automatically installed the HP AiO app. Which honestly, looks nicer than the stock HP driver package without all that junk HP bundles with it.

... I then realise I'm actually preferring the app version of some programs instead of the default desktop versions I used to use on 7. It wasn't like this when I tried 8/8.1, but with 10 apps from the Windows store feels very comfortable in desktop mode.
