Windows 10

I'm tempted to roll back, as it gave me nothing but problems updating I had to do a fresh install. Then it patched itself a few days ago and constantly freezes now!

What do people thinking about having the notification action bar,For me its no use and i rather not have it.

Can this be hidden?

Start > start typing "Turn system icons on or off"

Or right-click on taskbar, Properties > Notification area: Customise > Turn system icons on or off.

I just upgraded a very old Dell Inspiron laptop and it works so well, couple of driver issues easy to get over but runs a lot faster now and given the laptop a new lease of life. Very surprised.

hi guys - just upgraded to windows 10 and I'm getting some awful sound when playing tf2 , all drivers up to date though. Tried running in compatibility mode but no joy.

Any cure to this ?

This has probably been asked before; How do you do a clean install with Windows 10?

Insert the Win 10 USB or DVD into pc and run! When it asks for product key, normally twice, ignore!

Win 10 should activate automatically later.

Download the media from Microsoft website (it's called Microsoft media creation tool)
Run that and burn image to USB/cd
Do a fresh install.
If serial is on bios, it should automatically detect it.
If w10 is already installed, it detects it if you start the install process from within windows.

Otherwise type on you w10/8/7 serial in when prompted.

If you have never clean installed Windows before watch a couple of YouTube video to familiarise yourself with the installation wizard.

When selecting and installation type choose Custom, not upgrade.
Delete all existing partitions, don't create any new ones, click Next and Setup will create what it needs.

On my quick launch icons (on the taskbar) is a default icon for "Switch between windows"... When I press it nothing happens?

The icon itself seems to show a tier of windows being displayed?

Is it possible it's redundent and something left from Windows 7 (which I upgraded from)?

Had a right nightmare last night. I was shutting down and upcame "getting windows ready" along with "do not turn off your PC"...

Over 30 minutes later it was still there.

I Was on the verge of turning the machine off fearing my days of effort in upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 would have to be repeated... when after nearly 40 mins it finally shut down! All seems OK now!

If it was doing something, why not display even the simplest of update messages to let the user know it's not dead?

I completely agree with you there.
Its annoying at best and worrying because the times that its most likely to fail is here.
It has been for me anyway.
