10 has had, albeit closed fairly quickly, much more serious vulnerabilities than 7 over the last few months. Until something changes I don't feel any less safe on 7 in fact potentially safer so far.

People are targeting 10 that's why. Unless they blaming it on security so they can sneak stuff into the OS maybe.

If anything you will get driver issues, I did this on 3 machines and it worked no problems but then did have couple driver issues with usb lan adaptors and wifi cards.

It'll never show up for me
Odd issue with 2004 on my laptop and netbook. I check for updates, it finds some and starts downloading then stops, telling me that I'm up to date without installing anything. A quick check with winver shows they are both still on 19041.264. 
Edit:
Never mind, seems as though a restart solved whatever was the matter with both machines. Oddities indeed!
