Windows 10

So most of us "enthusiasts" would still be better off buying a full Windows 10 license so we can guarantee being able to use it through motherboard upgrades etc.

At this point I'm going to wait and see if any good deals on full license versions happen as I'm always chopping and changing hardware!

I'm thinking this too and install my w8 on a virtual machine and then upgrade that.

And yet, he's still posting the opposite on twitter
Good old Zac from WinBeta asking the question.

I don't think they are going to offer this style of license, I think they will offer 'lifetime of the device' upgrades. Meaning everything is linked to a MoBo.
They've used the phrase 'lifetime of a device' over and over and over, and historically took the motherboard to be the device.

thats only to the free offer.

they are going to sell win 10 retail which will be 149$ for home and 199$ for pro, they also be selling oem at a lower price

Well just installed win 10 preview on my PC / laptops. Cant argue at free update to RTM, seen a few bugs already but no deal breaker.

Wasnt sure how it would work so used the misses MSA and a spare just incase they only allow 1 key.

I'm going with we can upgrade as that's still what he's saying in twitter.

So in essence, Microsoft is turning a blind eye to Insiders looking for an activated, free copy of the Windows 10 RTM, however their public message will continue to be 'You need a valid Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 license to upgrade.' This is great news for those who installed the preview over their old Windows installs, so you will not need to downgrade before upgrading to Windows 10. Hooray!

The 'small print' does say "Estimated retail price of Windows 10 Home full licence: actual prices may vary."

well spoted m8, i didn't see that, but does that full license mean retail or it could mean full license of oem.

win8.1 retail is £99.99, so going by that they are giving everybody full retail licenses
