Issues wtih WinRAR and Win 10?
Have a paid version of WinRAR and in the middle of doing a fresh install on the Ultrabook (Gaming rig can wait until the weekend)
If this is the case I will wait for a new version and just use 7 zip for now![]()

Absolute shot in the dark here, and probably not related to your issue......but were you using PIN access to logon instead of password ?
One weird thing that was present in the RTM (and I'm going to assume the final release, though I haven't tried it), was a limitation put on certain network related services when using a PIN logon, usually following a fresh install rather than an upgrade.
Was very strange, as it had a number of people, including myself, jumping through hoops, re-configuring services on NAS devices, editing Windows settings etc etc, with very little success...............................and all it was in the end, was the PIN logon (which is very handy to be fair) blocking certain services from starting up.
Switching to normal password immediately solved the issue.
But then why bother having All Apps on a Start Menu at all?Start button, type the name of the program, press Enter. Whats wrong with that?

Are you supposed to be able to do that then? It isn't possible in Windows 7, and I'm not sure it is in 8/8.1 either.
You can do it with third party programs though.![]()
99% sure my issues are related to my SSD (Samsung SM951). I've had a couple of issues with it since I bought it, mainly boot loops which have needed 8.1 installing again. Every now and then on a boot Windows has been scanning and repairing the C:\ as well.
I looked at the drive health last night using SSD Life and it was showing 65%. So I did a reboot with chkdsk /r running which gave loads of errors and the drive is now at 45%. So RMA time.
I am using Winrar 5.30 Beta1 (Licensed) on my laptop and PC without any problems. I just extracted a 400mb website backup and also opened and browsed a 20gig archive with no problems.
Winrar was carried over from Windows 8 as I done an upgrade and not a clean install. Maybe the problem only exists on a clean install...Not sure.
Still really hate how there's two ways to do everything. I was (naively) hoping it was still WIP, but nope, release build is the same. I HATE that there is settings AND Control Panel etc. Yes, Settings will be easier for novices and father in laws, but I don't want it on my system... If we must, why not just make Control Panel more like it and have only that, with options to limit it to Settings levels??
Looks like Windows 10 still hasn't resolved the biggest Windows 8 issue... the bubbles screensaver background doesn't stay as the desktop and instead becomes a horrid generic colour taking up the whole screen. Used to love the bubbles bouncing off my desktop on Win 7.
