Windows 10

how did you do your upgrade? did you upgrade from a previous os (w7 sp1 or w 8.1?)

I originally did the upgrade through the media creation tool. Everything was fine with the upgrade. Windows 10 was activated. So in theory I should now be able to do a fresh install without using any serial key. Unfortunately that's not the case. I'm just greeted with the Windows is not activated window.

If you go more details, whats the error? Is their an activate button? Try pressing it a few times.

It might be server load again.. Its friday after all people might have waited until today when they had more time to upgrade.

Error code: 0xC004C003

The error code indicates that it's the wrong key installed. I've not installed a key yet ! It's totally different that my 8.1 key though.

Activation button or not?

If you have an activation button just keep pressing it for a while

if not

Restart a few times uncle_gravy had to restart 8 times :P

Sorry, no there's no activate button just a change product key button. The system has been up and running now for nearly two days and had probably in excess of 20 plus reboots, maybe more. Think I might have to drop down to my 8.1 image again and live with the hassle of installing my 8.1 image then upgrading the PC to Windows 10 :(

That's an interesting find, I've always been a fan of PCPro as well!

I think like easy has said I am going to stick with Windows Defender alongside Malwarebytes free and see how it goes. Apparently you can use Windows Task Scheduler to actually schedule scans with Malwarebytes even though it's the free edition. I'm going to look into this as I haven't tried it yet.

I expect at the end of the day I will eventually switch to another AV at some point as I'm quite security conscious. Will just have to see how long I can last :P

For anyone interested Windows Task Scheduler cannot be used to pass arguments to Malwarebytes.

How well does the upgrade work? I'm expecting it to screw up my shortcuts, programs, drive maps, settings, everything really... Is that not the case? :p

Windows 7 Pro (64bit) > Windows 10 Pro (64bit)

just found my favourite Windows 10 feature so far..

If I use the touch-screen to right-click on a folder, the context menu is larger and more spaced out than if I perform the same action with the trackpad (Asus T100). That's just fantastic! Touchscreen navigation in Windows 8 was a nightmare, and this tiny feature just made my day :p

Well it's been a torturous task, but my Clean install backup laptop is set up great and works a treat .... my main upgraded laptop is an absolute mess.

Think I've decided to do a clean install! Here's to yet another day of loading and setting up software.

Very impressed with Windows 10.

Tbh after testing and playing with malwarebytes it's worth every ounce of the money...and I'm a tight ass with software...the realtime scanning is amazing and website blocking is the nuts.

19 quid for 3 machines for a year...that's good value compared to a mobile phone or Sky TV contract !

It's a few beers !

So does Malwarebytes Premium work fine against Windows Defender? It can't replace Defender right?

Thanks :)
