Windows 10

General performance is far better - the OS felt slow before. A number of small visual bugs have been fixed. Cortana now works - it was all distorted and didn't work before. WiFi used to disconnect all the time. It has been perfectly stable since doing a reinstall. So far, no icons have disappeared off the start screen (leaving blank icons that did nothing and could not be deleted in their place).

My Windows 10 upgrade was a mess. I still think I prefer 8.1 TBH. The on screen keyboard still doesn't pop up when I select a text field and, unlike 8.1, Windows 10 doesn't reformat the on screen content to show the keyboard and the text box. On some web pages I can't see what I'm typing. I'm not hugely keen on Edge either. Preferred the last 'metro' version of IE for touch screen use.

I am very happy with Windows 10 Pro 64 bit once installed. It's nice and responsive. Glad I made the jump from Win 7 Ultra 64bit. :)

Last night I ended up doing the reset option on my PC but with the option to remove everything. This included a 250GB SSD and a 2TB harddrive. The whole process took probably around 4 hours

I still have windows.old which doesn't seem to willing to be deleted. Tried the disk clean method, just deleting but nothing is working. The folder is very small (I think about 600 KB).

I have done the sfc /scannow in command and that completes 100% but it does detect some issues in the scan or something, which seems odd for a new install.

Nod32 / Malwarebytes doesn't detect anything.

Just found a massive issue with windows 10.

Permissions done with groups like domain users or other domain groups do not work. The only way you can get write access to a folder or file in windows 10 is by adding the user account itself to the permissions.

Not checked myself but that can't possibly be true. Anything that massive would have been spotted by now surely.

I've been testing builds at work for full deployment soon and we've had no problems writing to each user's folders.

What visual bugs did you get? I had some random folders with a black background, which have gone since I did a clean install.
I tried a UEFI build from a USB image, which was a disaster, my overclock failed and Windows would not start. Did a legacy build again from a DVD, and all is fine. Weird. Not bothered about UEFI from what I've seen!

Is there a list of update links that might work for upgrading 8.1

Or is there only one path now, I tried that recent media update and it didnt take

If you enable to Trust settings I'll email you a link to the ISO on my Google Drive.

I'll try that or anything!

There are a few things I would like to see:
Microsoft Edge:

I would like the ability to sync bookmarks in Edge like in IE with my windows phone.

The functionality of this is in IE only so you could import from IE each time you add a bookmark to your phone but that defeats the purpose

Email App
Ability to create folders from within the app.

Aside from that - love w10 so far and I think its the best OS from them so far

What's with this update:

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3093266) - Error 0x80004005

Just can't seem to install it - searched online and seems like a few different issues?

Anyone else having memory troubles?
Mine keeps showing silly numbers like 500mb used, 75% of 4gb. never shows the correct % of RAM used....
any ideas?

I've tried that and restarted the PC but it stills shows up.

Also that system reserved, anything I can do with this? It shows up as another drive.

Probably a permissions issue. Unless it's using a vast chunk of space, don't worry about it.

Don't delete the system reserved, it contains the boot manager and the startup files if you are using Bitlocker. The drive shouldn't be mapped to a letter, but it sometimes happens. You can safely remove the drive letter mapping from Disk Management.

You're not alone. Mine is constantly trying to install and fails each time.
