Windows 11 26h2

I think 26h2 is more smoother running for me, but its early days I need a few more weeks on it but I do a fair amount of registry tweaking and privacy/security set up with ooshut up tools and similar.

Still more important its stable and not crashing.

Anyone here using LTSC version? Been seeing some stuff online about this possibly being a more streamlined version with less of the "home" edition services.

We've been using the Windows 10 ltsc version at work and now just beginning to transition to the Windows 11 version.
It's not noticeable different, slightly less telemetry and some of the bundled apps are optional instead (e.g. can be reinstalled via power shell), only reason we have it is for the longer support period and no feature updates.

As it's only (legally) available via a volume license, it wouldn't be something I would bother pursuing for home use.

Updated my main devices, so far so good! No issues to report... YET.

My work laptop has only just moved to 25H2, they obviously like playing it safe :)

Using UUP dump, I created my 26300.9711 26H2 image and was alarmed to find it was 10.1 GB in size, compared to the 28000.2954 26H1 image which is 8.2 GB.

I've yet to test 26H2, but I don't expect any surprises.

The size increase was posted on page 3 by @Mujja (Unsure if you saw this or not)

I must admit, I didn't spot that post. :o

When looking at installer.wim, much of the increase in image size appears to have come from the WinSxS folder in C:\Windows. I could probably reduce the size by converting the WIM file to ESD, but I don't really see any point right now.

Exactly, as long as you have a 16GB USB you will be fine which most people will have laying about these days. No point reducing it for the same of it as its just a waste of time.

This one is a dud. It's causing system lockups and it seems to be quite widespread.

I'm sure MS is getting AI to code their patches these days.

Has all the problems with gaming on 26H2 been sorted now? Held off updating I know early days they was a bunch of issues with performance and crashes while gaming.

Since 26H2 was installed on 30 Sept, I never had crashes while gaming. I was played Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall everyday until today with zero crashes.

You can update 26H2 now.

Will continue to hold off updating then

No reason to unless a certain game you playing is not working.

With the update causing Windows be less resource heavy, it be silly to wait.

None of my 3 gaming systems had any problems with games since the update .
