Windows 7 beta - 9th January

I think so, never took much notice, it loads allot quicker though, and from testing out the x86 versions it also resumes from standby much quicker too :D

Like Ive said with other posts...... Vista couldnt be any faster cos everything loads instantly, even when it needs to pull stuff off the hdd. I use hybrid sleep, so when I wake the computer up in the morning, it only takes 2-3secs and everythings back on again ready and waiting, but putting it to sleep takes 10-15 secs tho, but thats not a big deal.

So Im not gonna bother with win7 on my main system cos that is running like a dream, but im temped to give win7 beta ago on my 2nd pc:D

Got bored. So I prepared my disc

<snip>

Saddo :D

Better hope that disc isn't a dud! :p

I was planning on downloading the beta tonight, but its going to be hours before these servers go back online so I'm probably going to sack it till tomorrow.

Don't wear out your F5 keys. ;)

so essentially the problem seems to be with the registration system for the keys. I'm using that direct download link someone posted and that seems to be fine but I've never managed to complete the registration process which i've been trying to do on and off all evening.

Just click on the links and you can download it without using f5, it's just teh beta keys.

Hahaha, wow, I'm such an idiot. I had quite a few pages open using that same address where it would eventually lead you to the Windows 7 beta key hoping one of them would go through and it would actually give me a beta key. I was closing a couple of tabs down, I got to one, closed it and had just noticed that page loaded up was displaying my beta key, what a utterly stupid thing to do. Luckily though, soon after that same page loaded up again so I finally have my Windows 7 beta key. :p:D

Just out of interest though, what happens if someone goes to this page here which is the page before you actually get the key, but they haven't signed up, would they still get a key? :)

Did you get to that page after confirming your email address? I keep getting a 404 everytime I click the link in my email. :(

Could not be any faster? Course it could be lol.....

Just like Windows 7 is faster.....

Using less memory which it can't instantly overwrite is a good thing. Using less memory in total is a bad thing.

It's a good thing end of, it's using less memory all together freeing it up for games like GTA IV, I don't see the problem.

If you think it's a bad thing run memtest to take up the extra memory vista uses compared to Windows 7.

Hi mr.sly, the link in the email doesn't then direct you to the webpage that so many people are having problems with which is the page before you get the beta key. Once you have entered all of your details and clicked continue, you should then get an email to verify your email address. Once you have clicked on that link to verify your email address, if you then carry on using the same webpage that you registered with. It should then give you your beta key. However, the majority of people are receiving the following message:

Error
