Not sure if you guys actually read the MSDN notes, but the WEI is based on a drives random read and write performance, have a read http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2009/05/05/support-and-q-a-for-solid-state-drives-and.aspx

That'll be why SSD's are so much better then. Ignoring the actuallyred/write speeds, the access times are stupidly small on random reads compared to HDD's

Thats probably because the score weights random io more importantly than sequential, and the majority of raid0 controllers blow at random io (or at least give virtually 0 gain over a single drive).

Raptor should still do better than most drives, as its 10000rpm gives it a random seek time of 4ms (approx) compared to 10-12 on 7200 disks.

Yep Corasik, nicely put...I did have a search for the article I read on it, but haven't found it yet - the only ones I can find relate to "hard" WEI numbers within beta, not the final. (sorry --ki-- not the article you linked to).

7.7 here for a single 160GB G2, two thirds full. I think it was only 7.6 last time I tried with my Q9650 at stock speeds.

5.9 for 4 Raptors 150GB in RAID0.

Hah, ye, fireworks took my fingers. No, I got the same score (7.9) with 3 in Raid 0 and 4 in Raid 0.
