windows 7 has been a bad experience so far.

I love Win 7.

My system spec is not new by any means but almost everything worked from the install (except my soundcard).

System fast, smooth and gameplay faultless.

Long may it last

This definitely sounds like a driver issue rather than Windows 7. As suggested try the mouse without drivers - or another mouse completely.

I have been using my Diamondback for months without drivers on Windows 7 and it is fine. Can't really comment on gaming as much [haven't done any for a while] but I have to use legacy drivers for my aging X1900XT :p

isnt this the case with every new op from microsoft ?

i remember vista coming out and waited 6 month's before i swapped over from xp and everything was fine after the release to which there was many problems with vista.

i learnt my lesson with vista and will wait till windows 7 has been fixed and there are plenty of drivers about so everything ive got work's.

I've been using the RC build 7100 for a couple of months now, and I love it.

Haven't had a single issue yet "touch wood", the only thing I need to do once I install is update my GFX driver, and install my G15 driver.

When Vista first came out, it was full of annoying bugs, and I ended up going back to XP for about a year before I decided to try Vista again, but Win7 has been solid from day one for me.

Ive been using home premium 64 for a few weeks now, i skipped vista alltogether and stayed with xp, win 7 has been very stable, the only slight issue i had was with my netgear usb wireless adapter (netgears awful driver support) sorted this by using vista compatibility. All in all im very impressed with it so far.

Not had any driver issues with any of my hardware in Windows 7.

But those complaining about Windows 7 because of driver faults are silly, it's not up to Microsoft to release an OS when vendors haven't been arsed to write drivers for the OS.

Have you actually looked to see if your drivers wont work in Windows 7?

As has been said already a lot of drivers for Vista will work on Windows 7, and Windows 7 itself has massive driver support out of the box.

I have installed Windows 7 four times recently on different hardware and the only driver installation I had to do myself was for my graphics.

Being on W7 64-bit for a few weeks. W7 seems like a better OS then both XP and Vista ever were. Only had minor driver issues but other than that the OS seems more stable and responsive.

i have no need to look at windows 7 as vista is fine for me and does what it supposed to do.

i would only upgrade if windows 7 was cheap and i really really need it.

I used the RC for quite a while and I loved it, I think that's why I'm a little underwhelmed by it now. Only installed it on my UP Laptop but I haven't had a problem with the drivers, just had to download and install a few.

Try removing your xonar dx, I've suggested this before in a thread of yours.

If that improves things, then I'd wait for a new driver for the card, and maybe flash the firmware on it (link on asus website)

Windows 7 is rock solid here. But I only have my xonar in Vista, I use my xfi in 7

i have random BSOD's when loading windows , error reporting doesnt help too as it doesnt tell what is going wrong. I suspect gigabyte BIOS is the weak link as i have seen others with gigabyte boards and have exactly the same issue. System is not overclocked btw

Having learnt from past mistakes
I kept my Xp32 bit install and when I installed win7 64bit I configured it
as a dual boot , so I could have the best of both worlds.

I have a 64bit OS , so when software companies actually begin to release
64bit versions of Apps I can take advantage of running them with more than 2G
of address space.

And I have Xp32 bit for running games faster/smoother than win7 64bit can.
