windows 7 has been a bad experience so far.

Hmm, loving Windows 7 to be honest, but just thought I'd come in and slate the O/S & Microsoft for other manufacturers mistakes in not providing proper support on their products.

It's not like they have had months and months to prepare for it in any way at all.

Shocking!!

Oh, I was using it at least 4/5 months ago as my main O/S with RC/RTM versions. The only problem I EVER had was with an old creative sound blaster card, which to be fair was about10 years old...even then I managed to find some slightly tweaked/haxed drivers but weren't great.

Been running flawless for me, until 5 minutes ago.

I restarted, and the network access icon in the taskbar popped up saying, additional login info required, click here to open your browser, so i did, and firefox just opened normally on my home page, so i thought hmm odd, ill restart again, see if it does it again, but after i restarted again, yellow triangle with the exclam mark was on my netwrok icon, and upon hovering the mouse over it, it was saying no access, but i knew that was bullcrap, as Messenger had already loaded up and signed me in.

Opened firefox, that opened fine as well on my homepage, and i could browse normally, so i don't know what it was on about, as i did have net access, i was on it fine, and when i opened the network centre, it had my pc going into the network fine, but out the other end, it had a big red 'x' over the one going to the internet (and the internet world icon was greyed out), and it was saying no internet access still, but i did have, so i thought right, ill switch off this time for a couple of minutes, switched back on, and it was back to normal.

I'm sorry, but i loaded up my computer with windows 7 and every device worked fine with its basic functions and i could game straight away without loading any drivers.
You can't damn a whole operating system because of mouse drivers which were not even made by microsoft programmers. the system as a whole works better than xp, and i still can't believe people still have a high regard for xp, whenever i use a windows xp computer now i just assume its infected with something.

And whenever I load up computers with Windows 7, I wonder what the heck have they have done with the taskbar ;)

After 2 years of using Vista Ultimate 32 and 64 in my house - on two separate Shuttles - 7 days a week, I have not had one single problem or driver issue & I can't see any reason to upgrade.

I start using 7 Starter and Home Edition on two brand new laptops (for friends) this week and one re-boots randomly (an Acer), the other takes over 2 minutes to get to the login screen, even after I have taken all the additional manufacturers software off (a high spec Dell).

It's pretty sad when the majority of people I know revert the second most important graphical part of windows (the taskbar) back to the Vista version - Some are even having trouble getting their applications to appear closed down (ghost icons on it), or the taskbar disappears altogether.

Windows 7 64 has been pretty flawless for me so far.
The only issue I have is with the drivers for my Creative Xi-Fi soundcard. The sound is fine but the Audio Control Panel is laggy as hell to use.
But to be fair if Creative ever released a decent driver for one of their products it would be a miracle. Not a little water in to wine one either but a parting of the sea kind of miracle.

vista user since it came out ( with days tbh) and out of the box, W7 is better, better then XP/vista

drivers can be an issue, but its the same with XP or vista, prove it otherwise!

and XP seems so old now.

If it werent for the BSOD'ing result of an odd bug between Killing Floors and OpenAL with the xfi drivers, i'd say its been 99% pure awesomeness for me! That 1% is because they ditched the 'Move' command from taskbar processes :p
