Windows 8.1

It seems upgrading to Windows 8.1 has broked some games for me

Anyone else

Nothing broke for me - had to install new graphics drives after the upgrade but that was about it.

What problems are you having?

Dunno but it broke my PC. (Had to system restore) and a laptop (had to recover using the disc) I'll be waiting for an 8.1 iso thankyew.

Only some games - Sleeping Dogs, for example. ARMA3 and BF3 work fine... weird

I get an error involving D311.DLL

"The procedure entery point CreateDXGIFactory2 could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Windows\System32\d3d11.dll"

P.S. I did the upgrade via an ISO

Could it be you need to rereun the game installer or reinstall direct-x?

My guess is that the update has changed some direct x related files so the games aren't finding the versions they expect.

Done both mate! Every other games works - even BF after a PB reinstall - but Sleeping Dogs just won't run. Shame. Maybe I should wait for a patch from Square Enix

Had zero issues with win 8 and so far it's the same with 8.1.

Verifying cache fixed SR4 so might work for SD.

i have that issue with an indie game called automation, as well.

It removed one of my drives from index options so the drive was not indexed and shares would not show on that one drive, only empty folders. Tried everything but could not get it back, went back to Win 8 Will wait a month or two before going back to 8.1

Unfortunately this is one of the many reasons to do a fresh install and not an in-place upgrade.

An upgraded windows has got to a bad idea really as theres already a lot of people out there who dont re-install windows at all so sticking a new OS over the top will cause them more problems than they realise. Probs not the case for most of us though

Yes mate, I have reinstalled twice; one to the same and one to a different folder, just in case. Oh well

Doesn't 8.1 include Directx 11.2, that could be an issue I guess? A fresh install for what amounts to a service pack release is ridiculous. Although to be honest I wish I had never upgraded to Windows 8 in the first place, I'll be staying away from 8.1 for now...
