Windows 8.1

Badboy i get that error when i have sweetfx or any injector installed in the game folder.

Delete that **** and play the game (hate playinbg BF3 atm without sweetfx, makes the game more depressing than it already is..)

Hey Kun

Yes, my first Google led me to the fact SweetFX doesn't work at all with Windows 8.1 CJ is working on it, I am told. However I have removed for both SDs and BF3 and only the latter works now :(

And yes, BF3 looks awwwwwwwfffffffffuuuuuuuuuullllllllllllllllllllll without SweetFX

Unfortunately this is one of the many reasons to do a fresh install and not an in-place upgrade.

nothing to do with upgrades go check many issues game related and 8.1. ill stick to win 7 then go to 8.1 when they sorted majority of issues. if you on 8, 8 is almost perfect dont upgrade to 8.1 !

Sleeping dogs works fine on win 8.1 for me on steam,it wouldn't start at first,i just verified cache and started steam as admin.

then it was fine.

Thats the problem i've got, even setting the updates to "let me choose when to download an install" it resets it self an down loads the updates while pc is turned off!

As when i boot back in which is normally first thing in the morning, it gets the W8 logo goes black an don't come back.

Think il be sticking to W8 for a month or so.

I just tested GTA IV,

logged in via social club, started game and was stuck with a black screen..

Skipped passed social club, started game, and it launched normally..

Which makes me think that the issue is more to do with social club, than windows 8.1

I did try GTA with 8.1 and I also got the black screen but it did eventually load up. I could not even press home to open GFWL until I got to the start game screen. This is not present with 8 as I am loading it just fine.

I have an issue with Modern Warfare 3, it works fine one one card but when I go crossfire the screen becomes corrupt, project cars and bf3 are fine but it seems there is an issue with crossfire and mw3.

When I installed the preview a couple of weeks ago it effectively trashed my PC so I had to do a fresh install.

I left it a couple of weeks as I didn't have time to try the full release as I didn't have time to faff sorting it out again if it went wrong, and so far everything is working ok.

I've had some issues with it.

At first, I couldn't even get 3D Mark 11 or Valley to finish a benchmark... just crashed out.

Far Cry 3 crashed due to the dreaded nvkdlkkm.sys error. (It's not that but similar)

Reinstalled display drivers and touch wood, it's been ok since.

Who knows. It feels very unfinished to me. Was hoping 8.1 would just be a service pack, didn't realise it was a total new beast.

The only thing new that I like is having the desktop background match Metro. LOL

What a waste of time. If there was a pain free way to go back, I would but the probable outcome would be a format anyway.

Ive had a few blue screens after upgrading to 8.1 from 7 at the weekend but games seem to be playing fine. Tried:

BF3
Metro LL
Smite

After installing Start8 its pretty much W7 with extra features.
