windows 8 start menu is back

DR-DOS was my black screen of choice.

My best OS to date was AmigaDOS and Workbench. It was a total pleasure to use.

Time for me to eat my hat, they just showed and announced start menu is back with live tile integration. Wasn't clear if this was part if 8.11 or a future update, I'm guessing future as it wasn't in with the 8.11 update segment of Build2014.
And metro apps in windows.

I kindly refer you to my post of almost two years ago where I said the Start Menu would return because End Users and Corps weren't ready for it. :)

when i reply to someone, i try and make my posts coherent and on-topic. how is what you've said anyway related to my post?

You seem to have no sense of humour so no point in me explaining it.

Getting back on topic I'm still very curious to see what they do with Win9 and 10 Start menu wise,it seems they can't change too much because users won't be able to handle it in general,GUI wise they may also be restricted on how much they can change.

I would not be surprised if they start doing minor changes again on Win9,10 etc a bit like Win95 to Win7.

They have set the precedent, is seems eminently sensible to me to disable the Metro Interface on boxes that have no touchscreen interface (unless the user wished to enabled it)

That's like customisation ie how you can boot straight to old desktop on Win8.1.

I'm more curious on what they will do with Win9 UI for desktop users, will it be similiar to what we have now with minor changes or are they going to still do some radical changes down the road.

So has this been confirmed is it in update 1 or will it come later down the line in perhaps an update 2 or something?

Don't forget FAT32 :p

I also remember when I got my first internet connection (28.8K dialup, bless), BT sent me a box of floppies for Windows 95 that installed Internet Explorer v1 on it for me.

I would have been 11 or 12 years old at the time, couldn't afford Microsoft Plus! :p
