Windows 9

I want a more professional method of organising and launching programs. Not an "app" launcher catered for small children and pensioners.

There might not be a Windows 9 as such. Rumours are it'll be Windows Blue or something like that which will essentially be a subscription based service that'll constantly be updated. What I'd like to see is them finally fixed programs stealing attention and better multi-monitor/multi-program support, for example, if I hover my mouse over a particular window and scroll my wheel then that is the window I want to scroll, not the one on the other side of the screen.

The Aero Glass effect to fully return is all I want :)

One article states no Aero or old style start button, improvements to Metro in Win9 so get use to Win8 ;) .

Personally Aero/Start are not needed.

Sorry, Windows Blue won't bring back the Start button

If you have been hoping, dreaming, wishing, that Windows Blue - which is set to (unofficially) arrive in the Summer of 2013 - would bring back the Start button, you may want to take a seat. According to a new report from CNbeta, who has leaked quite a bit of Windows 8 information previously, they are stating that Windows Blue will not bring the Start button back to Windows 8.

This should not come as a surprise as Microsoft would have a massive egg on it's face if it did cave to users requests to return the iconic button. But beyond not brining back the Start button, the source is also saying that Microsoft will continue to make tweaks to the desktop and that there will be updates to the taskbar too. What these tweaks are or will include were not stated. In addition to tweaks, the entire UI will appear flattened (think metro), the kernel will get updated to 6.3 (which we had previously heard) and will be provided free or at a very affordable price.

With flatter look being applied to more parts of the UI, all aspects of Aero will be killed off completely with Windows Blue, according to the source.

as I said before Microsoft won't bring back the start menu and Aero. so people really need to get over it and stop asking / hoping for something that won't be back.

either people should get use to Win8 or stick with the os u have for 10+ years

They will do.

Many people today are still using XP, if Microsoft are stubborn about the new GUI the same will be the case with Windows 7, it's Microsoft's loss really unless they can somehow take the tablet market by storm.

Its called progress why stay in the past?..you either move with the times or get left behind, besides Microsoft get most of their money from OEMs etc..so people like you refusing to change won't effect them at all.

Personally glad Aero and old Start button are gone.

I have nothing against the start menu or aero glass, but it would be pretty pathetic if they brought them back in the new release.

if Microsoft really wanted to they could easily bring back Aero and classic Start button for win8 with a SP or update but why would they do that. they making the money by the app store. also the classic Start button is well outdated. it was about time for a big UI change.

Metro is not here to stay, business won't buy it. Ever.
lol.. i'm sure I've read somewhere that some businesses have.. but even so most businesses still use xp

also if it's not here to stay then why it is going to be in win9. also if it's not here to stay then why MS haven't bring a update or SP out for win8 to bring back the classic Start button

A statement as wrong as it is bold.

To be honest, I think the next release should focus on improving the built in apps as much as the general UI. If Microsoft want to get serious about providing services (entertainment for example) then the apps on the front line really ought to be top notch. At the moment, they're far from it. Xbox music is a good example.
