Running windows 7 ultimate.

I think it needs to be able to boot straight to the desktop, so no password/login screen. I also ran it as admin, but not sure if that was necessary.

Ran fine here with the following popping up, asus express gate screen (10 second countdown), cpu fan error press F1 to continue then finally my windows logon password.

i had a shocking 65 seconds on my seagate barracudas in RAID0

50.015 seconds to boot on my WD C Black 1TB with 65GB of data on it. Plus the bloody thing asked me for permission to run again before it would show me a time

No fancy failraids here

It is reported that Win 7 still ages badly, so thats allways going to be the first soloution! Then its hardware!

Optimised my computer a bit. Still a 1TB HDD with 65GB of data on it:

Short of a fresh install thats pretty fast.

you could create an image file of your HDD then make a bootable disk of your image then install it as one long write.

but not sure how much difference this would make in real world terms

Didn't see the point in taking a screen shot because it could be faked so easily.

To be fair though my install is only about a week old and my startup items include Microsoft Security Essentials and nothing else. I've even disabled a lot of services in control panel.

Bet I could get it down with more tweaks though

Benchmarks of systems in use would make more sense not ones stripped to a skeleton with nothing on but BootTimer.exe

couldnt hurt, remove anything you dont need.
