Windows cannot find drives. (PLEASE HELP!)

i was at my wits end with mine....i tried everything and had drives out my laptop and in my desktop and vice versa i was at it for about 10 good hours....this was the last throw of the dice before chucking in the towel and bang there it was once i pulled the battery for a minute..

Hey here is the link to the samgsung site for the firmware update for the drive: F3 firmware update

You are going to have to download it, unzip it and burn it a CD, then make sure the HDD is on the master so put it on the sata where the DVD drive is and DVD drive on that one, then put the disc in the drive and start the machine and follow the on screen instructions.

Sometimes though if the article is correct, then you can pull the battery all day long, if the drives are detected in the bios, and the dvd drive works fine, but the HDD dont then I cant see the battery pulling doing anything, just remember cause something worked once for someone, dont mean that it will work for every similar problem.

And plus this is a common problem with all F3 drives and SB850 Southbridge chips, which is not just limited to gigabyte boards but all boards that use the chipset.

Yeah, just after everything we've tried so far , the suggestion of pulling the battery may aswell be tried first , its a pretty quick thing to do

Yeah you can, but try the battery 1st seeing as everyone thinks that will cure it. It is worth a shot before going down the firmware root, though if you cant remove the battery look in the manual and see if there is a jumper to reset the bios, you are looking for the CMOS reset jumper, just move it over to the other 2 pins then put it back, it should do the same as pulling the battery.

Jumper 20 on the motherboard CLR_CMOS

Looking at the motherboard its just below the battery and to the right alittle

After all the time looking at this pdf manual , I feel I know that motherboard better than the one in my system :p

In the process of doing that atm, just getting other things ready incase

LOL, you find that when helping someone else out with a different board. I seem to have some how collected a load of PDF files on motherboards on my HDD from downloading so many different ones for various purposes when fixing faults for various people I know and on forums...lol
