I just bought the Samsung F3 1TB and have been using it for the last 3 weeks...

Last week in windows it said:

Windows detected a hard disk problem. Back up your files immediately to prevent information loss... etc

Then today it showed it 5 more times.

Is my HDD failing? I bought it only 3 weeks ago!

What can I do and what exactly is happening?

Thanks

Indeed, backup your data, then run a drive scanner, ideally Samsungs own hard drive tester to verify that the drive is or isn't faulty.

Might also pay to quickly install something like HD Sentinel which can read the SMART data and make a determination on the drives health.

I backed up my data and used speedfan and HD Tune.

These are the results.

I tried to use Samsung ES Tool but windows 7 64 bit isn't supported. Everytime I try to run it it says version not compatable with windows.

What are these test saying? I do not understand them.

Thanks for the help

You need to actually scan the disk. Use the ISO version of ES Tool.

HDD's can die at any time. Be sure to also try another cable and make sure it's in securely.

Just ran the Samsung ES Tool as well...

Everything was PASS and the final message was: no errors were found with the HDD or something like that.

Don't know what to think anymore.

Weird as this may sound I would do a full malware/anti virus scan.

I had this problem with my mums laptop and narrowed it down to a nasty trojan. After a fresh install everything was ok again :)

fresh install of OS you mean?

Here's the thing if I have to spend a full day doing a fresh install (having no time because of uni work) I would want to buy an SSD (min 120gb) and just leave the samsung for backup.

So I really don't know if I should RMA or not and buy the SSD or keep going on the current HDD...

Could the error be a windows 7 issue or something like that?

Ok this is just annoying me now...

the message windows detected a hard drive problem is showing every 10 minutes!!!

I rechecked the hard drive with HD Tune and every sector is still green...

son't know what is happening

Did you run the full Samsung test from DOS? I.e a full surface scan?

Other things to check are the SATA cable, make sure both connectors are properly seated, if they are change the cable and the motherboard port it is using.

No I didnt try a different sata port... will do that

No don't have another hdd only the one I'm using

Will run the full surface scan in the afternoon and see what happens then.

Thanks
